No one bothers. It changes every configuration and new version/major patch, so it's an effort in futility and there's no one answer. So it's always just 1 machine (factory top tier) feeding into the next machine (also top tier) all the way down through the process. It won't be "instant", but you also don't care because it'll be fast and automated and it'll sort through everything you throw at it eventually and you don't have to mess with it or maintain it in any way. Also, you don't need the logistical pipes when you do 1:1:1... Because you can just set the machines next to one another and configure the output/input sides directly. Then, as mentioned in other responses, you can entangle the whole setup and soul surge it and it never breaks. From right to left: Entangeporter importing H2SO4 (produced in its own line elsewhere for fissile fuel)-> Dissolver -> Washer -> Crystallizer -> (ok, I used ONE logistical transporter pipe, sue me) -> Injector (the whole bit behind it produces the HCl) -> Purify -> Crush -> Enrich -> Smelt. All machines have 8xSpeed and 8xEnergy. The three that use them have 8xChemical. This is a perfectly optimal Mekanism setup, not min/maxed for throughput, but it does the job it's meant to do without complaint. Hello, I would like to know which is the better solution to the chlorine bottleneck I'm currently facing-a second evaporation plant or making my existing one taller. It has a powered resistive heater on it. My chemical infuser is specifically struggling to have enough chlorine to make enough hydrogen chloride to keep up with my elite injecting factory, which drags down production.

Also, please don't say stuff like "crusher spirits"-it's annoying and unhelpful to me. I have a full t5 facility going, and I'd like to make it be ever so slightly better.

I finally decided to process my ores and setup Mekanism’s 5x ore processing, but what I found is that number of machines in the main line is not linear. So, for one dissolution chamber I need like three washers, 15 crystallizers, five injectors, etc..

Has anyone done the math to figure out the optimal numbers of machines (with max or optimal upgrades) for each step of the main 5x ore processing setup, so it has no bottlenecks?

So I'm working on a Mekanism 5x ore processing setup and, as per usual, the chemical crystallizer is the bottleneck (even when fully upgraded). To have the crystallizer not bottleneck you need 10 of them to 1 of the each of the other machines in the system. Each ore generates 1000mb of [OreName] slurry which processes to 1000mb of clean [OreName] slurry. 200mb of this clean ore slurry is then processed into one [OreName] crystal this then processes through the system.

As 1 ore = 1000mb and there are 10 chemical crystallizers, each chemical crystallizer gets 100mb from one ore, not the 200mb needed for the recipe to process. My source for ore is a void ore miner from environmental tech, meaning ores come one by one and almost definitely not the same ore twice in a row.

This means the system breaks down when 10 chemical crystallizers are used when they are directly connected up.

I have come up with a few ideas to attempt to fix this problem:

  1. Have only 2 ore go into the system at one time - done using AE2 (level emitters and export busses)

  2. Just use 5 chemical crystallizers as then each gets 200mb automatically

  3. Put buffer gas tanks between the washer and the chemical crystallizers

  4. Have the first three machines of one system per ore (I can't figure out how to filter mechanism gas, if there is a way then that can be added to this list)

Problems with these solutions:

  1. If done using this method then if I ever input an odd amount ore greater than two from another source into the system (fairly likely to happen as I supplement with additional mining) it will likely break down as it will input as much ore as it can into the ore processor, resulting in an odd amount being processed, leaving 100mb in the chemical crystallizers, breaking the system. - also a ridiculous amount of emitters would be needed

  2. It still bottlenecks, just a bit less

  3. Due to the amount of ore in the pack I would need quite a few tanks, due to the nature of the pack that means a (currently) impractical amount of resources and time taken to make that amount of tanks, also I want to see if I can find a more elegant solution.

  4. Same problem as above, but worse. It would be an even impractical number of resources and an in elegant solution.

Any ideas/ Criticism of the soloutions proposed would be helpful.

TL;DR: Could do with a simple way to make sure only an even amount of ore is ever outputted into my ore processor so it doesn't break.

Edit: for those curious there are 41 different ore slurry's and more ores than that that are reduced down by ore dictionary.

Anyone got any better setups to get through auto crafting/ore processing?

Current spaghetti setup using Mekanism and refined storage in the ATM5 pack.

Using a large storage barrel to pipe all the auto crafting requirements into one place and then a logistical sorter to pipe the resources to the right machine before returning to the network as processed items.
(Downside being overlapping recipes are a no-no, cant make iron dust as iron is already in the system as being piped to the metallurgic infuser for infused alloys.) works quite well otherwise.)

The logistical sorter just sends anything matching *ore to the purifier so I can export ores to the diamond barrel without worry.

Can see here only 2/9 slots are consistently outputting to an empty chest

My largest problem is the purifying factory bottleneck. It requires 3 crushers/enrichers/smelters to keep up, which is fine considering it's creating 3 for each action. However multiple ore types result in only one or 2 being output to the adjacent chest each second.

Trying to use a pipe in pull mode instead of a chest doesn't seem to increase the speed the machine outputs either.

Does anyone have any more efficient setups to get through this ungodly amount or ore?

TLDR; I need help finding a better setup.

Hi, i would like to Optimize Mekanism Ore Processing, id like to know how many can be fed with 1 chemical dissolution chamber, for example to have it run efficient, 1 Chemical dissolution chamber can feed x amount of chemical washers at the same time and x amount of chemical washers etc can feed x amount of chemical crystallizers etc. etc. does someone knows this?

Usually when scaling a Tier 4 Ore Processing Plant, the bottle neck is the Chemical Crystallizers and the problem is having less than 200mB of clean slurry in the Chemical Crystallizer that makes it stall. Thus, when scaling up a Tier 4 Ore Processing Plant, "optimizing" the machine count isn't usually the highest priority but how to make sure the plant doesn't get stalled. However, I'll answer the question first. I'm using old intuition I had which might be somewhat wrong, as I haven't really done any hard data analysis of each machine so this answer might be a bit innaccurate. Each machine are assumed to have max Speed and Energy Upgrades. Disregarding the H2SO4, oxygen, and HCL required, 1 Chemical Dissolution Chamber 1 Chemical Washer 5 Chemical Crystallizer 1 Advanced Factory (Injection, Purification, Crusher, Enrichment) 1 IronFurnace Furnace (at least diamond level) with a factory upgrade This will still not overload the factories if you want to upgrade it to Elite/Ultimate and therefore if you're trying to scale your T4 Ore PP, I'd suggest separating the Dissolution-Crystalizing part and the Factory part. So that you can scale each part independently according to your need. In my experience 2 Crystalizing plant is enough to somewhat overload 1 Ultimate Factory plant. But if you want the most "optimized" set up then I guess it'd be like 9 Dissolution-Crystallizing Plants and 5 Ultimate Factory Plants. As I've mentioned previously, the problem with T4 Ore PP is usually not the optimization but the stalling. There're two ways to prevent this, either making separate lines for each ores, or separating each part and using a dynamic tank as a buffer. I'd heavily suggest the latter. If you're planning to scale your T4 Ore PP into an astronomic scale (instead of using Occultism Crusher Spirits because you're an autistic factory addict like me) then I'd suggest starting to learn how to use XNet and its Routers to make a network of plants for your factory. (Yes this was a shill for XNet all this time) Getting in to the nerdy part of this, here are several insights I have from building an ore processing tower capable of outputting millions of ore dusts in an hour. Craft your raw ores into raw blocks. This ensures your dissolution chamber won't be stuck with <3 raw ores and stall. Store your Clean Slurry in a centralized storage system using Dynamic Tanks. This significantly lessens the chance of the Chemical Crystallizer being stuck with less than 200mB of Clean Slurry. XNet significantly makes the system setup easier. However, you will need to change the config for the maximum fluid/gas/slurry transfer rate in the server config. If you can't modify the server config (public server or whatnot), then good luck learning Integrated Dynamics and spending days setting it up. You will need a massive brine factory to supply the T4 Ore PP with the Chlorine it requires so prepare to set up a football field-sized brine factory. (Hey, at least for the plus side it will produce more than enough Sodium for your future Fission Reactor) Why the fuck are you doing this? Go do Occultism and get Crusher Spirit instead. You're wasting your time scaling your T4 Ore PP. Honestly, are you just bored? Go get a couple Crusher Spirits. 9 Crusher Spirits only take like 3 hours to set up and it is on par (or even outperform) your 2-week project T4 Ore PP factory. Stop wasting your time and get the Crusher Spirit instead you nerd. [Edit: I meant AE2, not Integrated Dynamics. IDTunnels doesn't have Mekanism Gas compatibility. However, IIRC AE2 has really good compatibility with Mekanism, unlike RS]

I personally have a single dissolution chamber and the crystallizer/washers simply can't catch up. I would imagine you need roughly a multiple of 5, maybe 10 or 20? Also to save you a bunch of hassle- the slurry that comes out of the dissolution chamber is not a liquid or anything- it's a gas.

For my Enigmatica 2 Expert run right now I currently have a sieving setup as well as a Void miner Tier 5 (6 speed mods, rest luck) feeding into 4 Mekanism Ore Quadrupling setups (Elite Factories). However, the amount of ore coming in is honestly too much for my setup, and ends up getting clogged up with a huge backlog, multiple ore types in each factory slowing it down, and more or less getting stuck on doing one type of ore because my miners are going so fast they never run out of that type of ore, leaving the other to sit unprocessed. I could use some advice of working out the kinks with this, whether that means sharing your own setup for processing ores, general advice, explaining why something about ore tripling makes it always act this way, etc.
 
One alternative I thought of but am not sure I like is going down to ore doubling instead of tripling and making an ore doubling setup for each individual ore type to make sure I'm getting a steady supply of each type of ingot.

What is the max throughput you have experienced with a maxed Mekanism 5x ore processing setup? The next big project I am looking to tackle on my server is getting one setup to handle the output of 2 tier 4 ore miners from environmental tech.

Back in 1.7.10 I would separate the gas/fluid production from the processing setup. That was a modpack with pressure pipes so I used that to easily convert to fluids and pipe under the related factories. That pressure pipes mod was soo convenient (no throughput limit, multiple liquids same pipe, automatic transfer to liquid from gas). However the big takeaway is to split the gas production from the machines. That makes it much more easy to scale both independently according to your needs.

Hm. With full speed/energy/gas upgrades it's pretty fast. The onlt issue i have is that the chemical injection chamber doesn't run very well with 8x speed upgrades. It's good with 4 though, it rarely gets overflowed. Some advice: Make everything you can an elite factory put 8x speed/energy upgrades on EVERYTHING. for sulfur, you need gunpowder. Easy way to do this is cobblestone generator -> crusher -> purification chamber -> crusher. I've found that 2 thermal evaporation plants is good, one might be fine if you don't have much ore input. If you have ender storage, you can condenerate the gasses into liquid, pipe them into ender tanks, then decondenserate at your machines. This setup supports my ender quarry with efficiency V and Fortne III upgrades. I'm not sure how you ore miners compare, i've never used that mod. If you have backups of ore, try creating duplicates of the dissolution chamber, washer, and crystallizer since they can't be made into factories. I've only got one of each, and the factorized machines almost never have more than 2-3 items processing at a time. I turn auto sort on so they go even quicker.

September 4, 2014 - Ores must be infused with Hydrogen Chloride and purified with Oxygen, which can be collected from the atmosphere or separated from Water, etc, etc, etc- it's complicated! Secondly, you can scale it as you progress. Mekanism allows you to scale your ore -> ingot production at first 2x, but as your tech increases and you can perform those chemical processes, you can scale your ingot production up to 5x.

Currently playing atm9 im just wondering what’s the best way to processing ores. I don’t know Mekanism at all and would to avoid going that route. I’m early game. I know I can go occultism but don’t the mod.

I always go mekanism. Avoiding it is a big mistake. You should shoot for a purification chamber > crusher > enrichment > furnace (I go with iron furnaces that I upgrade as I can but there is also a mekanism furnance). This setup will take you from early to end game since you can upgrade it as you go. I use a copper hammer to duplicate ores while I get this setup started. When you get into RS or AE2, you can use an output bus to the purification chamber. You also have the benefit of being able to make wind generators which are great free energy to start. Don’t wanna use mekanism still? I don’t know what to say, there’s EnderIO. Rocker crusher. And probably other methods but seriously worth it to not skip mekanism and you’ll need to learn it anyway to get to end game (mekanism is likely going to be the longest wait as you make antimatter anyway and you’ll have a great foundation if you’ve set the above up already…)

If you're in very early game, you could just get an ore hammer. Put the ore and the hammer in crafting and the hammer will break 1 ore into 2 dust. Easy early doubling Now for mekanism, I can explain the doubling and tripling as it's very easy Doubling with mekanism: Enrichment chamber -> any furnace (energised smelter) If you want to upgrade mekanism machines, make them into factories, for example, enrichment chamber -> enriching factory Tripling with mekanism: Purification chamber -> crusher -> enrichment chamber -> smelter As you can see, ore tripling doesn't use much more stuff. But, the purification chamber has a requirement, you need to pipe oxygen gas into it. You do that by making an electrolytic separator, and pumping water into it. This will produce oxygen and hydrogen. You can either set hydrogen to dumping, use in a jetpack, burn it for energy, or use it in any other machine.
