I'm an absolutely newbie at building a PC, and I found that Memory Express offer a custom-built PC configuration and I can pay for it to be built by them. Is Memory Express a reliable place to shop at?
Just looking to get a decent built PC and comparing these two ME built ones. Are they decently priced and is it the extra 200$ worth? Is there is anything you would replace? Maybe 16Gbit more RAM.
I took a look at the individual parts and look like they do ~10% mark-up, which is very acceptable.

Hi,
Could someone please help me build a Gaming PC, please?(Memory Express Configuration Tool)
I found it very confusing at the "optional items" part. I have no idea about coolers/extra case fans/screws/fan/thermal compound/cables/controller cards/etc
https://www.memoryexpress.com/Tool/Configurator
It would be good to find it all here, but if there's something they don't have, I am open for suggestions to buy it separately, as they build it anyway if we take the PC parts to them.
1. What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.
I want to be able to play top AAA tiers on my 4k screen at 140hz/fps (TV supports). I don't need speakers or a monitor, just a monster tower basically.
2. What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?
Around $5000 if it's really necessary, but cheaper would be better of course. Really between $3000 - $4000 or so.
3. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
As soon as possible.
4. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ex: tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
Just the tower and OS, I guess. I have keyboard/mouse/monitor/controller already.
5. If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? How old are they? Brands and models are appreciated.
Nothing, just monitor/keyboard/mouse/controller
6. Will you be overclocking (ex: CPU/GPU/RAM)? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line?
Only if it's necessary in my budget. But if I can overclock just down the line would be ideal.
7. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, VR, VirtualLink, tensor cores, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Other than it needing an SSD, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, nothing else comes to mind. I don't need that much space, 1Tb should be fine, unless it's a small difference in $ to upgrade
**8. Do you have any specific case preferences (ex: mITX/mATX/mid-tower/full-tower sizes, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
I don't like those towers full of light, prefer black to combine with tv and home theater. Also, the tower height should be less than 50cm/19in, unless it's a much better deal a bigger one, than I can make the space
9. Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? Note: some post-secondary students can get Windows 10 for free.
Yes. Windows Home.
10. Will you be upgrading this PC in the future (ie: will you swap out better parts later on or will you build an entirely new tower later)? If so, when?
I'm looking to keep this PC as long as I can and only swap out/change components if something breaks. Looking for something that will last me at least five years.
11. Do you have a brand preference? (ex: AMD/Intel for CPUs, AMD/NVIDIA for video cards, etc)
Whatever gives me the most bang for my buck. But I have a preference for AMD Ryzen CPU and NVIDIA GeForce GPU.
Actually, here is my biggest doubt. Should I go for the GeForce 4080 (price reasons) or if I want my 4k 144fps, I'm gonna need the 4090?
12. What are the specs of your old PC / laptop? Do you want to see if it can be upgraded instead? If so, paste its build from PCPartPicker here.
I only have a notebook, which I will keep using

I guess that memoryexpress already have good parts for good price? But, as I said in the beginning of the post, if there's something they don't have, I am open for suggestions to buy it separately, as they build it anyway if we take the PC parts to them.

Thanks a lot!
Is it better to build my own custom pc? Or are these a good deal?
Hi guys,
I'm planning to build my pc at Memory Express (Langley or Burnaby) next month and wondering if they're still good. It seems like they are not very active recently. Also, I will let them build it which cost $150 with OS according to their website so if you have your pc built by them please tell me your experience.
First-timer here looking to build a workstation that can play also play some games. To simplify things I'm planning to build purely through Memory Express' Configurator Tool (https://www.memoryexpress.com/Tool/Configurator) and paying them to build it for me. Too lazy to get my own parts and going to them directly. Would really appreciate any help.
What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.
I want a fast, smooth, and solid PC that primarily serves as a workstation but can also run AAA games (occasional gamer) though don't need to be max settings (medium is fine). Don't need a monitor, but welcome any speaker suggestions.
What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?
~1000. Hard line at 1200.
When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
As soon as possible.
What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ex: tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
Tower, OS, speakers. Although I can forego the speakers if it makes sense to.
If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? How old are they? Brands and models are appreciated.
Dell monitor from about 2018, Deathadder mouse, Reddragon keyboard
Will you be overclocking (ex: CPU/GPU/RAM)? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line?
No
Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSDs, mass HDDs, Wi-Fi / Bluetooth, VR, VirtualLink, tensor cores, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc.)
SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 1Tb space or less.
Do you have any specific case preferences (ex: mITX/mATX/mid-tower/full-tower sizes, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
No preference.
Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? Note: some post-secondary students can get Windows 10 for free at OnTheHub or through their school's IT software distribution department.
Yes. Windows Home.
Will you be upgrading this PC in the future (ie: will you swap out better parts later on or will you build an entirely new tower later)? If so, when?
I don't like upgrading unless absolutely necessary, and I tend to build entirely new PCs every 5 years or so.
Do you have a brand preference? (ex: AMD/Intel for CPUs, AMD/NVIDIA for video cards, etc.)
No preference.
What are the specs of your old PC / laptop? Do you want to see if it can be upgraded instead? If so, paste its build from PCPartPicker here.

1. What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.
Playing mostly Genshin Impact, as well as Star Rail. Interested in Arknights: Endfield whenever it releases, probably sometimes next year. I don't have a 1440P or 4K monitor so I'll be running things at a 1080P resolution, but may upgrade to a 1440P monitor in the future. Probably not 4K since I'm not really a hardcore PC gamer, just for select titles. I mostly stick to consoles for that, of which I have a 4K TV.
2. What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?
Around $1500 probably, cheaper would be better of course. Really between $1000 - $1500 or so.
3. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
As soon as possible, probably around Black Friday if there are no specific components for my build currently on-sale.
4. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ex: tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
Just the tower.
5. If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? How old are they? Brands and models are appreciated.
Reusing my Dell monitor, Dell keyboard, and Logitech mouse/speakers.
6. Will you be overclocking (ex: CPU/GPU/RAM)? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line?
Not really, I tend to just stick with things as is and not mess with it too much.
7. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, VR, VirtualLink, tensor cores, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Other than it needing an SSD (for faster loading), nothing else comes to mind.
8. Do you have any specific case preferences (ex: mITX/mATX/mid-tower/full-tower sizes, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Not especially, nope. Just as long as it's not hideously ugly where I want to gouge my eyes out.
9. Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? Note: some post-secondary students can get Windows 10 for free.
Yes. Windows 11 I guess, just because it's the most recent. Home preferred, since I just need the basic OS.
Since I'm not very knowledgable with the components/brands and the like, I'll be putting my trust in you all!
12. What are the specs of your old PC / laptop? Do you want to see if it can be upgraded instead? If so, paste its build from PCPartPicker here.
My PC is a relic. If I were to upgrade anything, I'd need to change everything. A certain archaeologist might claim that it "belongs in a museum" but even he would beg to differ. It belongs in a scrapyard.
13. Extra info or particulars:
I'd ideally like to purchase everything from Memory Express since I plan to have them build the PC for me, so if you all could link the build/parts through their PC Configuration Tool, it'd be greatly appreciated. I know I'll probably be paying a bit more for parts than if I were to get everything separately, but I'm okay with that.

Thanks a lot!
I am building my gaming pc very soon but I know next to nothing when it comes to actually building one. I don't want to risk it when spending almost $3000 so I have decided I will go to Memory Express and have them build it for me. I just want to know if people have any experience dealing with them and if they do a good job both with building the pc as well as customer service if anything were to happen to it.
I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this. Thanks!
Hi, I'm looking to build a high end pc. The option of ordering the parts from Memory Express and having them assemble seems to be one of the best I can find. I get full customizability of the parts I pick, and they put it together. It's a win/win compared to buying from most SIs who only offer certain parts. They also only charge 200$ for premium/priority build, which isn't that much extra. Does anyone have experience with Memory Express?
Also I would like suggestions for my build. I'm a little bit over my budget of 6k$ before tax. Excluding the assembly cost I'm at 6120$. Thanks in advance!
So wifes PC is 8 years old and I have swapped in a few parts over the years. But it is getting worse and worse. So broke down and ordered her a new one sort of. Her GPU checks fine in other machines so going to reuse it, rest will be new. But because part shopping is hot garbage now I decided to let them build and check so if anything needs to be swapped it can be done as fast as possible. I can do some cable management stuff when get time later if they do a sub par job.
Things I learned so far.
They are still price matching. Make them match everything. It was only about 100 dollars, but they were over on almost every part. Even brand new 590 boards.
Assembly info, if you buy the mobo, cpu, and cooler they will put the cpu and mounting bracket on the board for free. The regular assembly https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX1616 only covers stock cpu coolers. After market coolers are https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX63723 .
Even if the online store has a part in stock they are not flexible getting it into the store. The cpu cooler sold out in Edmonton I had wanted. The online store had stock I was told they don't bring stuff in from online store it would be an order from distributor.
Last for now and not a fear thing. But wife and I talked about this on Wednesday. The original PSU sold out had to change, the MOBO had to change four times, each time picked a new one was sold out when doing price check. Also had to change cooler it sold out as well locally.
Will update after I see what it looks like when it is done later this week.
Have had several systems built by the Vancouver location with no complaints
Interesting. I guess it depends on the location but I've always found the Calgary stores (especially the NE location) to be great. Over the years I had them build a few before I started building my own and I never had any issues with their builds.
Just last week my friend showed me his new PC that he had built at Memory Express and it looked pretty good. Great cable management in fact. All he had to was update BIOS and drivers and he was good to go.
I'm sure your wife's PC will be fine. May need to clean up the cables at most but that should be it. Memory Express is pretty good.
I am looking to build a pc with a $2700 CAD budget. I already picked the parts on pcpartpicker and I am scared to build it on my own because I can not afford to mess up and I want to have good cable management. Is there a business that will build it for me if I provide them with the parts? and how is Memory Express/Canada Computers when it comes to building pcs? Or should I just take the risk and do it myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated (Also I would really appreciate if anybody could take a look at my build and let me know how it would run. Bottleneck issues or not enough cooling etc. Thanks again)
So I'm planning on building a new rig, old one is starting to crap out on newer titles (mainly Black Ops 6). In doing research for where to buy however, I've been seeing a LOT of posts about how shit Canada Computers is; and apparently always have been. Is MemoryExpress the better option for buying a pre-built GAMING PC?
I'm not the most technologically inclined person, and when issues start arising I honestly get pretty overwhelmed in all of the troubleshooting. Canada Computers has only ever exacerbated that issue so if I can't avoid them than so be it, but I'd really like that to be a last resort.
I am looking at building a computer when NVIDIA releases their new cards, and have played around with the Memory Express system configurator to get an idea of what I want. However, I find a lot of their stuff is sold out, they don't carry everything I want (example being they only have the Samsung 970 Evo Plus and I just want the 970 Evo as there is a $100 difference between the 1 TB versions on Amazon and ME), or they won't even list parts on the configurator that they have on their own website.
I don't really care about the process of putting together a PC, and if I'm spending $3k+ on something, I would like someone more experienced to deal with it. I emailed them asking if I could bring my own parts for them to build it, but never heard anything back. Does anybody know if they will do this?
Thanks
1. What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.
Software development, containerization, running plex with 4k streams, light gaming at 1080p (last pc game I booted up I think was Civ 4, would like to run modern games at moderate settings ni 1080p if the desire arose).
2. What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?
Would like to keep it around $1400
3. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
Sometime in the next 4 weeks. I have 2 adorable tax shelters and am getting a juicy return
4. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ex: tower/OS/monitor/keyboard/mouse/etc)
Only things in and including the tower. Will be porting a couple of SATA drives over from my current PC.
5. If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? How old are they? Brands and models are appreciated.
2 SATA Hard Drives
6. Will you be overclocking (ex: CPU/GPU/RAM)? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line?
Maybe?
7. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, VR, VirtualLink, tensor cores, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
Wifi and Bluetooth preferred. Have been debating on a 1 TB nvme drive for applications/games and just a 250 GB for OS. Lots of memory (32 GB I am thinking).
8. Do you have any specific case preferences (ex: mITX/mATX/mid-tower/full-tower sizes, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
Nothing too fancy here
9. Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? Note: some post-secondary students can get Windows 10 for free.
I do not
10. Will you be upgrading this PC in the future (ie: will you swap out better parts later on or will you build an entirely new tower later)? If so, when?
I might swap out some components but I last updated my current PC outside of Hard drives something like 7 years ago so I'll just drive it as long as I can
11. Do you have a brand preference? (ex: AMD/Intel for CPUs, AMD/NVIDIA for video cards, etc)
No real preference.
12. What are the specs of your old PC / laptop? Do you want to see if it can be upgraded instead? If so, paste its build from PCPartPicker here.
i5-4440 CPU ASUS B85M-E motherboard 8 GB Ram 500 GB SSD 6 TD Sata storage Radeon 5700 Series 1GB

Is memory express a reputable computer store like Canada Computers?
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/DukeOfTheNorth/saved/#view=mPMZ23
I have no prior knowledge with regards to what parts I want or need, but I do know what specs I wanted and ended up with this. I insisted on the CPU and GPU, but unfortunately, this was the only 4090 they had (it's rare to get a 4080 or 4090 card where I am).
The total including tax and commission fees was about $6800 CAD. I wanted a purely functional PC. I'm concerned if I missed anything or not. I'm well aware this is way overpriced for what it is, but I'd like some thoughts on if I'm still missing a couple of things or not as I'm not well-versed in the matter.
For context, this PC will be used for Unity, Unreal, Maya, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, various AI BS, and gaming.
Anyone down to give me a couple build suggestions from memory express (local to me+they'll build it)
Looking to spend 1500-1800
Ill need windows as well
Ill probably upgrade parts eventually
No real brand preference, some rgb would be nice but realistically not necessary.
Thank you!

RGB airflow build, great for 1080p or 1440p gaming.
GPU has a manual price because you should be able to find one in-store. There's lots in Ontario if you're there.
Let me know what you think :)
"Ill need windows as well"
Please don't buy the 100$ version of windows.
All you need is a USB and one of the various online website that sells windows 10/11 codes for like 10-20$.
Also while im at it, you may want to use the Windows 11 debloater tool to remove all the garbage programs you don't need.
Lastly, I would read this article here to avoid having ads in your start menu, YEAH ADS IN YOUR START MENU.
https://www.techrepublic.com/article/how-to-remove-ads-windows-11/
Hello, I am considering getting a gaming pc for myself, I don't want to build it myself.
In my city, there are some memory express shops, so I just looked at their website, seems like they have some prebuilt options.
One is 3600X with 2070S for 1860 CAD: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX78180
It can be configured to some extent, for example, I can downgrade it to 3600 with 2060S for 1640 CAD.
There is another option which is 3600 with 1660 TI for 1500 CAD: https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX78174
My budget is between 1500-2000 CAD, I want to be able to play games like Total War Three Kingdoms, and get the more cost-effective option.
Basically, these are like builds proposed by Memory Express, they charge their normal price for the parts and they charge 75 CAD to build it, and I am guessing they are charging 145 CAD on Windows 10. I heard I can get Windows 10 elsewhere cheaper, but I don't mind paying them 200 CAD to do the build for me I guess considering that I also get one year warranty out of it.
Then, I guess it's a matter of the quality of their build, is the first prebuilt a good idea? Or should I go with the second one? Are there some configurations I should do?
Also, is it worth it to wait some months for the 30th gen cards to come out? I currently only have an old gaming laptop which can't do much, but if I can save some hundreds dollars then maybe I should wait more time?
They’re not a bad deal. As with most people on this sub, I’ll always advocate building the PC yourself. However, I totally get not wanting to. If you just want to get gaming, a well priced and spec-ed out prebuilt is a good option. I’ve always had good experiences with Memory Express in the past.
I paid $50 for memory express to build my PC. No need to pay for the $75 option.
Just looking for a prebuild midrange (1-2k) gaming tower and perfer to get it local (Edmonton). I've had great experiences from ME and been looking at their prebuild section and was wondering if any of them are a good deal or should I just pick components and get them to build it.
I haven't looked at components in many years but all I've heard is to avoid Intel right now.
If there are other local places I should check out I'm happy to shop around.
