Hi all,
Recently built my own computer; have been having some trouble getting it working. I'm quickly approaching the limit of solutions I'm willing to try (the computer was expensive), and so I'm looking at taking it into a shop to get it looked at. My understanding is that Best Buy is kind of prone to massively ripping you off. The other option I'm aware of in Winnipeg is Memory Express; however the only time I've been in there was almost a decade ago, and even then it was just because the PC I was building at the time (I have a problem) was missing standoffs. I've seen that the location in Edmonton seems respected, but obviously that doesn't necessarily mean the Canadian office is any good.
Does anyone have experience with Memory Express's tech service here? How fast/backed up are they?
Also, re: my old PC, I'm planning to gift it to a family member who only has a laptop atm. However I'd rather not accidentally gift them a timebomb. I'm pretty sure the only issue with it is that it's extremely dusty (which granted is a major problem), but it wouldn't hurt to have someone take a look at it. Do they do diagnostic stuff like that? And if so, would that be billed separately, or would it be counted under the same hourly service fee as the other problem?
Apologies if this is the wrong place, or if these are stupid questions; hope y'all are having good days.
