I'm planning on getting a HAUGSVÄR mattress from ikea because it's decently priced and I've seen it recommended here before. However ikea doesn't allow payment plans for items under $500 so I wanted to know if the Knapstad 2 ½" memory foam topper is any good? I dont want to sleep warm or feel like I'm sinking into anything. Another mattress topper is their tistedal latex topper which is 2 ⅜". Any advice is appreciated!

Hey r/frugal!
I'm about to start my final year of university and move into a new apartment. The apartment's common areas will be furnished, but the bedroom will not.
For the first time, I am in need of a mattress. While my family has an extra twin-sized mattress, moving it would be a bad idea. My dad is extremely stubborn and will insist on tying to the roof -his way- regardless of what The Internet advises, plus that thing is older than I am and has been sitting in my basement (bugs!!!! Centipedes, spiders, oh my!) for over a decade.
I know mattresses are usually splurge pieces, but for my case, it's only temporary. The splurge will come once I graduate, get a job, and get a larger bed -- But right now, I just need a bed to last while I finish my last two semesters at school.
I am considering getting the IKEA JÖMNA mattress ($69.99), the cheapest mattress available at IKEA. The main draw of an IKEA mattress is that it comes vaccum-packed and rolled up, so transporting this should be much easier and safer. I already have a 2 or 3 inch memory foam mattress topper which would help with comfort. I'm very petite (94lbs), so issues with a sagging mattress should be unlikely.
Is there a better temporary bedding solution? Is buying a mattress off very good friends a bad idea? I slept in a (admittedly, quite nice) air bed for four months during a work term, but I really would like a real bed for school!
