Computer won't start because of "memory refresh timer error" | Tom's Hardware Forum
December 16, 2016 - Memory types officially supported by your CPU are DDR4-1866/2133 and higher frequencies are considered an OC. It will depend on the strength of your chips IMC if they will work or not. If you know your Bios well you can try your XMP profile and although your MB supports the RAM frequency, your CPU may not and would require changes to Primary Timings and Dram voltage.

August 16, 2019 -

Just finished my upgrade to a ASRock z390m mother board, 2x 8gb ddr4 Trident Z 3200 and a I7-9700k. My other components are 550w supernova g2 psu, Corsair h100i pro AIO, and 500gb Samsung 860 Evo.

I installed a speaker to my mb and it turns out it made one short beep which concludes some sort of Memory refresh timer error I have not put on xmp yet. When I start up the PC it freezes before it even tries to boot to windows but I can boot into the bios

What are AMIBIOS Beep Codes and What Do They Mean?
November 12, 2020 - Three short beeps means there has been a base memory read/write test error in the first 64 KB block of memory. Replacing the RAM usually solves this AMI beep code. Four short beeps mean that the motherboard timer is not working properly but it could also mean that there's a problem with the RAM module that's in the lowest (usually marked 0) slot.

r/pcgamingtechsupport on Reddit: Memory refresh timer error, but pc works.
July 10, 2020 -

hey, i have 2 months old (new) pc, i had a few problems before so i made factory reset and now everything is fine, but my pc lags when i open something, and it is just not supposed to work like that.

Everytime i restart the pc i hear the one short beep, and it apparently means " A single short beep from an AMI based BIOS means there has been a memory refresh timer error. "

I couldn't find fix to this issue at all. Everyone has problems with their pc not even starting up, but mine is working fine, it just lags.*I am writing this for 2nd time because when i tried to post this 10 minutes before, my pc crashed(blue death)*

If i forgot to say something here please let me know. Any help will be appreciated.I have 16gb ram (2x 8gb) but all of this information should be available on the link below.

Have a great day, thanks for help.

r/pcmasterrace on Reddit: "DRAM refresh failure" and "conventional or extended memory failure" on ASUS
August 4, 2022 -

Hi. Yesterday I bought an ASUS Prime A520M-A II, everything went good with the installation and I was very careful. Everything works, when every time I turn off my PC I get two motherboard error beeps, one is a short beep (DRAM refresh failure) and the other one is one long beep and 3 short ones (conventional or extended memory failure). I reseated the RAM sticks like 4 times but it still happens.

Can it be because my RAM doesn't appear on the list of supported CPU/Memory? Everything worked great with my old mobo (MSI A320M-A PRO MAX, which my RAM does appear on the list of supported CPU/Memory)

The thing is, I can't find ANY of the supported RAM in my country, or they're super expensive and fancy with like 4600MHz and RGB

Here are my specs:

Ryzen 5 3500x

Sapphire Pulse RX 6700 XT

2x8 DDR4 RAM HP V6 3200MHz (With OC A-XMP, which I tried and my PC started boot-looping)

The type of DRAM chips used in the early and mid 1980s were available with 128 cycle or 256 cycle refresh. The chips used in the BBC A and B models are 128 cycle types. This means that the seven address pins need to cycle through all 128 combinations in order to refresh all the memory cells.
