Men's Fashion at Walmart
Everything about men's clothes at Walmart sucks. I'd happily buy my clothes there and get a discount while I'm at it. But it isn't appealing to me. My wife buys some pretty decent outfits from the supercenter near us. I'm also annoyed that they don't make a green George button down shirt. Any supercenter ASM can walk into work and buy a cheap, new, dress code compliant outfit. I have to go somewhere to find a nice looking green shirt that is cheap enough to not care about ruining it. What are your thoughts on Walmart clothing?
Many people might be opposed to shopping at Walmart for [ethical issues.] ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Walmart ) When buying new clothes that are cheap, you have to understand that the things you're buying are probably going to be produced under sweatshop conditions. Cheap, ethical, and brand new, pick two. Many of the clothes (if not all of the clothes, anything but underwear really) you're buying from walmart you can buy from thrift stores, craigslist, garage sales, or ebay secondhand (and sometimes new) for less money. If you're on a tight budget, how many new "around the house" shirts did you really need right this second? Might it have been the more frugal decision to save that money or use it towards longer-lasting goods like better shoes? Buying a lot of low-quality products versus fewer high-quality products is wasteful and not frugal. If your $10 shirts fall apart in one year, but $15 shirts fall apart in three years, you're not coming out ahead. 2-3 months for a pair of shoes is ridiculous unless you're putting them through hell, and even then there's probably a more durable and frugal alternative than Walmart. Consider that a middle of the road estimate has you buying slightly fewer than 5 pairs of shoes per year, or spending $192 replacing the same pair of shoes over a year (plus gas to get to and from the store, and time, and comfort sacrificed in not wearing quality shoes.) Buy a quality pair secondhand from a thrift store or ebay, or pay more upfront for something that will last you far longer. I don't really care how Walmart clothing looks either way, if you like it you like it. But from a frugality standpoint, buying "disposable" low-quality clothes is usually going to cost you more long term. From an ethics standpoint, I personally don't think being frugal means being as cheap as possible no matter what the consequences are to others. More on reddit.com

The men's section...at Walmart! (Crossposted from r/ButchFashionAdvice)
If you have a Goodwill, it is a good place for my butch fashion needs. You, of course, have to do a bit more sifting and sorting through things but you can find some nice pieces there. My Eddie Bauer and Bonobos chinos come to mind as excellent scores. And the prices are pretty good even without the 50% off color of the day/week. And, honestly, I've had good luck with thrift shops in general. It does mean that I only pick up a piece here and there but I prefer it that way. More on reddit.com

It took me watching this video (https://youtu.be/SRzh8QmCjeQ) and coming to a serious realization that I have never purchased clothing from Walmart to realize how bad the men's fashion line really is. It seriously looks like it hasn't been updated since the mid nineties, and the fits on almost everything are actually ridiculous. I've been told that the women's clothing line isn't nearly as bad, but for us guys, what the hell is going on 😂 if I were Walmart, i would've fired the men's clothing merchandiser years ago, in order to update and match up with current trends. Even the stuff we do carry that's "trendy" is about two years past the trend. Thoughts?

I'm trying to stay on a budget and bought like 8 shirts for mostly home and some for outside use today. They were like $10 a pop.

I also got some shoes for around $40 from there. I bought some shoes from there before, and while they were bad quality, they did stay solid for 2-3 months before needing to be replaced.

I'm seeing a lot of hate from a lot of places against Walmart clothing. What is YOUR opinion on it?

I've always preferred Target clothes to Walmart. Walmart clothes look cheap and rednecky where Target is totally chic even for men.
