I need to pick up some gear for a wedding rehearsal dinner coming up next week.
The dress code is "casual but classy." So I'm thinking just not jeans/maybe some sort of collared shirt.
Where would you go shopping for something like this in Oakland? I typically shop at places like Slash in Berkeley and like "street wear" type brands typically.
Is there a good mens pant store anywhere? Any suggestions?

Budget is the big question here, but Nordstrom rack over off 40th is a solid spot for good value, wide variety. If you want cheaper, tj Maxx and Ross over in Emeryville always have options.

you could try Standard and Strange on telegraph. might be something there that would work. Relove on Grand is a curated second hand store with higher end second hand clothes. Maple Street Denim might have some good stuff too. there’s always nordstrom rack, gap, etc. aside from that…good men’s clothing is clothing can be pretty hard to come by in oakland. if you wanna go to the city you have a lot more options.

I’m in east oakland, and while I will happily go through Goodwill merch, are there any places out here that are more like… out of the closet, crossroads, any of the places on upper Haight in the city. I see a lot of stores around town (not necessarily in east oakland) that are highly curated boutique type places and that’s not really what I’m looking for, although I do appreciate it.
Does anyone else remember the 2010’s era of thrifting kind of know what I’m talking about? And if it doesn’t exist, would people want it?

I grew up going to Thrift Town in San Leandro and I feel you! It's a little further and you'd need a car, but Savers in Walnut Creek/Rossmoor. Rossmoor is an upscale retirement community and I've gotten some pretty nice scores there (and I'm currently wearing a cashmere sweater that I got for $4). EcoThrift in Hayward and the Salvation Army in Alameda are my other two regular spots. Also, if you're not in a hurry, check out the Oakland Museum White Elephant Sale.
