I bought a "new" Brother HL-L3230CDW from Amazon and none of the default passwords, or the password written on the back of the machine, are working. Does this mean my printer is not actually new? I'm locked out of my brand new printer.
Well I just purchased a brother printer and all was going fine until yesterday I couldn't print with some settings changed, like I can't change things like copies, multiple pages, scaling, watermark & header-footer. Upon troubleshooting and searching I got to know that it has something to do with setting administrator function, the problem is I never set its password and when I go to administrator settings it asks me the password which I never set in the first place, now all of my printer settings are locked and I can't print with those settings, please tell me what to do?
Also a link for a different printer but with similar settings about this lock features.
Change the printer driver settings (Windows / macOS) | Brother
Here are some images to know what I'm talking about!
Here it is asking me the password where when I enter some password it says wrong password. Here is the lock which I'm getting in front of the settings I want to configure. For most of the Brother printers the console and web mgmt default passwords are the same "initpass".

Try to connect using telnet
telnet 192.168.1.10 [repalce with your printer ip]
Hit enter key to get the password entering UI and then enter the default telnet password
accessReset the password using this
SET PASSWORD *YOUR-PASSWORD*
Note: when you change the password from telnet it will change both web and telnet passwords. (in my Brother MFC model) You can clear the password if you leave the password as a blank. Also, it will automatically revert the telnet password back to
access.
