February 7, 2025 -

Got about 400 users that need an endpoint protection plan...Wondering if it is worth paying the difference on Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 1 and get Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2.... Getting hassled by auditors, I guess reports from sccm on the Microsoft defender that is shipped with windows doesn't cut it any more.

What is the experience out here? Do you have an opinion on either of them, better yet, maybe both? I would like to hear it.

r/Office365 on Reddit: Issues with Defender for Business vs. Defender for Endpoint P1
January 1, 2024 -

We recently upgraded to Business Premium, but when setting up Endpoint web content filtering we realized it was only available for All Machines, you could not control the scope. As we have some users that require access to sites that should be blocked for others, we contacted support who told us to purchase the Defender for Endpoint P1, which we did. I unassigned Defender for Business and assigned the new defender license for everyone, however in the Defender portal its still not allowing us to create device groups and is applying Defender for business. I'm not sure where to fix this, as Settings > Endpoints > Permissions > Device groups from the support article he sent me does not exist, when I go to Settings\Endpoints there is no Permissions section or option. Now that all users (except termed, blocked users) are assigned the new P1, how do I get it to apply to the defender portal so I can customize the web content filtering???
