We are looking at MDT as a possible solution for managing and streamlining Windows deployments. One concern is that the documentation appears dated (as do the requirements). Is this a product that Microsoft is continuing to enhance and update? or is it something older that still works but Microsoft is invested in other avenues for image mangement/deployments? If the latter, what are those solutions? And are any of them good for on-prem?

I manage 130 MDT servers (school district - one server per school and a few other district sites). No issues with deploying either with the Windows 11 ADK and WinPE.

Yeah, mdt is still updated as part of the adk set. 21h2 is non-issue, windows 11 should be possible but untested from my end.

Hi. I have a new manager and he wants us to try MDT for deployments. So far I have only used Windows Systems Image Manager (WSIM) to customize the install media for new OS installs, but everything after that is manual. Manager wants to take a single OS install, add any applications and configurations, and then "take a copy of that OS" for replicating on all other installs. We only use Windows 10 21H2 for everything so we only have one OS ISO to work with. Is this easy enough to get working? Are there any guides for new users that take a lot of the guess work out of it and walk you through both setting up MDT and doing your first deployment? Or at a minimum, can I ask you guys a lot of questions??? :)
