Competition. It's not just a buzzword. In order for the consumer to get the best product, there needs to be competition. Microsoft saved Apple (look it up) to make sure they weren't the only vendor in the market. Google is going to have issues because they pushed too many competitors out of the market. Sony wants Xbox and Nintendo to continue to be successful, just not in first place. Microsoft wouldn't buy Sony because it doesn't fill a gap in the Microsoft portfolio and would remove a primary competitor off the board. With only Nintendo Switch as a competitor, we'd be back to "monopoly" talk, just like what's happening with Google. More on reddit.com

I'm using LibreOffice although my company pays for Microsoft office. Microsoft Office looks better but in the end it's just a tool to get your job done. I also noticed that Libre office is better when working with csv files. More on reddit.com

Reddit is gonna to make this seem like huge news ( I mean just look at r/news with all its “experts” commenting in) but these two companies have been trading spots for over a decade. Even tho Apple hit 1, 2, 3 trillion first, Microsoft has actually been the richest company in the world plenty of times during that decade, and overtook Apple for parts of 2018, 2020, and 2021. That being said, Microsoft has set itself up very nicely, and them retaking the top spot was only a matter of time tbh. However, no, it’s not the downfall of Apple and it’s hilarious how many Reddit experts are claiming they know why Apple is “failing”, and they point to the… exact same reasons why Apple got so successful. Edit: And now Apple has overtook the number one spot again. Exactly my point More on reddit.com
