I wonder how much longer Microsoft will be offering standalone versions of Office....I personally pay for the 365 subscription but absolutely appreciate and root for people who just need the Office suite and nothing else. Ive owned Office 2021 for macOS. Ive uninstalled it & installed Office 2024 for macOS today.
Surprisingly, every software packet (word, excel, outlook etc.) has the EXACT same version as office 2021.
On the "Office Updates" page from microsoft, office 2024 isn't even mentioned (2021 is): https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/release-notes-office-for-mac // https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-office-for-mac
Office 2024 versions:
Outlook it is 16.89.3 (24092813) and for everything else 16.89.1 (24091630).
Questions:
1.) Am I right, that for macOS, both, Office 2021 and Office 2024 do get the same exact version of office?!
2.) New Outlook still does not support Exchange accounts... which is not surprising, if its the same version as outlook 2021...
The thought that comes to my mind:
Office 2024 is just a "right to update" for feature updates. You don't get anything just yet, because - at least for macOS - you get the exact same version.
