End of Life could be the issue. I know that sometimes there are exceptions or anomalies, at least it would be a good idea to upgrade to the modern.
End of support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 - Microsoft Support
Support for Office 2016 and Office 2019 ended on October 14, 2025. All of your Office 2016 and Office 2019 apps will continue to function, but you could be exposed to security risks. Upgrade to Microsoft 365.
I have office 2016 installed on windows server 2019. A user wants to use outlook.com account on outlook 2016 on the server but I am not sure personal account will even work.
Is there any workaround or any idea why it doesn’t work. I created a test outlook account but kept getting stuck on enter password loop
For some reason, VL or OEM versions of Outlook will still look to Microsoft for a MS/O365 account. We made a group policy with the following registry edits, it’s rarely popped up since then:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\AutoDiscover]
“ExcludeExplicitO365Endpoint”=dword:00000001
“ExcludeLastKnownGoodUrl”=dword:00000001
“ExcludeHttpsRootDomain”=dword:00000001
“ExcludeSrvRecord”=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity]
“DisableADALatopWAMOverride”=dword:00000001
“DisableAADWAM”=dword:00000001
I purchased a volume license of Microsoft Office 2019 Professional. I was able to install it on the computers I needed and it installed correctly. but recently Office has been asking for a Microsoft Login. So after some investigation, Office was activated with our Windows domain accounts. but this Microsoft Login does not accept the login; it is looking to connect to an account in Microsoft.
This situation is causing problems with MS Outlook. Without this Microsoft login, Outlook won’t immediately connect. a “need Password” appears at the bottom of Outlook. the user has to click that and the Microsoft login pops up again. then it is cancelled and then Outlook connects to our exchange server and works correctly.
Should Office 2019 be using a Microsoft login? should it be using our Windows domain account? if so how can i get it to connect to the Windows Domain? I tried the KMS key, in the Microsoft Volume License center, but the MVLC does not have one for me.
Thoughts?
