What is an Xbox Gift Card in the Canada Store?
Where can I buy Xbox Gift Cards in Canada?
How can I redeem an Xbox Gift Card in Canada?
Anyway to gift an Xbox gift card to a Canadian from US?
Where can I buy digital Xbox Gift Cards in CAD--i.e. for the Canadian Xbox Store?
Xbox gift cards from Microsoft store
I'm in Canada trying to buy a xbox gift card code for a friend in the US, if I buy from the Canadian website, will it still work for them?
Gift card in Canadian dollars won't work on the US store to my knowledge.
More on reddit.comI'm looking to purchase an Xbox gift card in USD and gift to some in Canada and I'm sure a USD gift card code won't convert to CAD for them to redeem.
Is there a way to do this through the Xbox store itself or through the Microsoft store online? Haven't found anything from what I've seen thus far.
I'm in the USA but would like to buy a movie from Movies & TV that is only available in the Canadian region. To do this, though, I need to add an Xbox Gift Card in Canadian dollars to my account (ideally, around 12.99 CAD). I checked CDKeys, Newegg, Ebay, Rakuten, and Amazon but they don't have any. I tried to buy it from www.microsoft.com/en-ca but got an error message:
Contact us at Microsoft. We’re having trouble processing your payment.
Any other options?
UPDATE I went with u/dave8125's suggestion to buy from the Canadian Costco website (costco.ca). It worked. Here's how to do it:
-
When you create an account, you must use a Canadian shipping address even though the Xbox Gift Card was a digital delivery. I simply inputted the address for the Microsoft Store in Toronto, which worked. Then you can use a U.S. credit card for your payment information, and you can properly input your U.S. address as the billing information.
-
After you purchase it, you'll immediately get a confirmation email from Costco.ca, and 29 minutes after that I received an email from Codes2Go with the actual 25-character code.
-
When I tried to redeem this code on account.microsoft.com, I received an error telling me the code was from another region and that I should return it. I tried again to no avail but then finally figured out how to do it:
I searched for the movie I wanted to buy from the Canadian Microsoft Store website (www.microsoft.com/en-ca/) and then clicked "Buy" from that page. Then it popped up a payment information option and I clicked on "Redeem a code". I inputted the 25-character code and it added it to my account and purchased the movie.
-
Following that, the movie showed up in my 'Purchased' section of the Movies & TV app on all of my devices (Xbox One, Windows 10 PC, Windows 10 phone) even though they were all set to the U.S. region.
Side note: if you log into your account on account.microsoft.com, on the left-side pane it will summarize your remaining gift card balance for any region you redeemed cards in; if there is a small remaining balance, you can use it to rent a movie.
But if it's too small in value to do that, I think it'll just go to waste, sitting their unused indefinitely because I don't think you can use multiple funding sources--particularly from multiple regions, so try to find a card that is as close as possible to the purchase price of whatever you want to buy--just don't forget to account for tax (for instance, the movie I bought was priced at $12.99 CAD but had $1.69 CAD in tax, for a total of $14.68, so getting a $15 CAD gift card was just about perfect, resulting in only $0.32 CAD gone to waste.
Another promising option from u/xXiLax is PC Game Supply, but I wasn't able to test it out myself as I already went the Costco Canada route.
