I've had the 12 inch Surface Pro for a week and as someone who has had a Surface Pro 4 and also Surface Pro 9, and has used the Surface Go 1 a lot because my brother had one, I feel like I can give a useful review here. As nice and cool as the Pro 4 and especially the Pro 9 are, they're just too big and heavy for tablet use, so what's really the point of making a device like that? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. You can use them as a tablet for a little bit but they're just too heavy and big, they're not "tablet first" tablets. The Surface Go though was light and small enough that you can use it as a tablet but it was so slow and weak that you'll want to throw it at the wall, and it had horrible battery life. And apparently the later versions of the Surface Go weren't much better. Also, a 10.5 inch display is just too small for Windows, it just doesn't work. This 12 inch Surface Pro though? It's nearly perfect. It's not heavy, the screen is big enough that you can actually do things on it, it's so fast and smooth and I'm getting great battery life with it. Microsoft makes a lot of crappy products and I don't like a lot of the stuff they do as a company but this 12 inch Surface Pro is amazing. I wonder why they didn't make it sooner? Why did it take them so long to realize this is the sweet spot? I suppose they had to wait until that Nuvia chip was ready. Whatever, it's here now and they've finally figured out how to make the ideal tablet. If you're looking for a Windows tablet, this is the only option, don't get the 13 inch one because it's too heavy and big to be holding (unless you are very big and strong?). Kudos to the Surface team for making something so good, I'm a bitter jaded old nerd now but I'm actually excited about a piece of hardware for the first time in a long time, it feels like I got a new toy
