Loved the reddit post, going to use it in the future for inspiration. Also checked out the blog article and thought the style was very cool and makes reading about sometimes boring topics more interesting
More on reddit.comHas anyone bought NEW mid-century modern style furniture? If so, what is your favorite retailer?
Looking for something I can cuddle up in, comfortable, as well as durable. Let me know if you have any suggestions please!
I recently bought my first house. It's a genuine midcentury modern house, built in the 50s. But now I have to actually furnish the place. I'm going to be looking everywhere (from modern furniture retailers like Design Within Reach, Joybird, AllModern etc.) to thrift shops, to Etsy and beyond. I'll probably have a mix of modern and MCM styles.
But, one thing I've noticed is that as stunning as much mid century modern (and MCM-inspired) furniture is, much of it also looks... not very comfortable. For example, I inherited a tulip table + chairs set with the house. They look amazing. But, I certainly wouldn't have an extended 2 hour meal with friends in one of those chairs. My lower back hurts just thinking about it.
Right now, I'm focused on the living room -- sofa or sectional, accent chairs, lounge chairs. I'm hoping to take some inspiration from y'all. So, if you'd be so kind, show me pictures of your living room seating that is genuinely comfortable. Like, binge-watching-Netflix-all-day comfortable. And, yes, I know this is a very subjective question.
