Is guitar center worth going to?
Buying a used MKII at Guitar Center?
Do I need a MIDI controller to make music?
What’s the best size MIDI controller for beginners?
What are the pros and cons of using a MIDI controller?
Cons: Unlike a traditional keyboard or synth, MIDI controllers don’t make sound on their own—they rely on being connected to a computer or external module. Some entry-level models may lack features like aftertouch or dedicated transport controls. Also, DAW integration can vary depending on the model and software.

I remember back in the days when Guitar center used to have all these amazing synths, (I bought a Korg X50 and a Juno G from there) they always had a wide variety of synths and drum machines. But now is it worth going too? I wanna buy synths locally instead of having to pay an arm and a leg for shipping.
Guitar Center has got a used MKII for sale with no software. Can I buy the software separately and would there be any licensing issues?
I'm shopping for a MIDI controller keyboard for a home recording studio. I've come to a point in my research where I really need to try some of the options out in person to decide. I went to Guitar Center on Van Ness, but they only had one of the keyboards I was considering. I'm wondering where else I can go in SF (or the greater bay area) that would actually have the keyboards I want to try. I found a few other boutique music shops in SF but they seem to have an even smaller selection.
If it matters, the keyboards I'm hoping to try are:
Studiologic SL88 Grand
Studiologic SL88 Studio
M-Audio Hammer 88
Arturia KeyLab 88 mkII
Nektar Panorama P6
(Native Instruments Komplete Kontrol S88 was the one I was able to try at Guitar Center, and have eliminated.)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
