Man, I just wished my future self told me to stop buying Akai entry level controllers and just save up and buy a better keyboard or a Push. I feel like I own every entry level midi from Akai, but I only use APC 40 MK 2 because its basically a physical session view and akai MPD 218 only for drumming ideas. Heya! You guys have been soo helpful to me so far as I start my journey into making music! So I thought I'd ask for advice on buying my first Midi Keyboard.
This will be my first instrument ever. I don't know how to play any instrument, so I am an absolute beginner. But I basically want something I can write melodies with as i like to work over the top of loops and stuff. Nothing too complex.
I am big fan of buying pre-owned stuff too, I love to get extra use out of something someone no longer needs, especially if it means I don't end up buy some cheap rubbish of Amazon or something.
In terms of features, I am not too picky. But I am also very open to suggestions that someone like me might benefit from when looking.
So, to sum it up:
Where is a good place to look for Pre-Used beginner midi keyboards?
Is there anything I should keep in mind feature wise that would help me starting out?
Are there any specific models I should look out for?

Whatever keyboard you get I suggest subscribing to Melodics. It's a program that helps teach you how to play. But you kind of teach yourself to be honest. Everybody learns at their own pace, in their own way. This allows you to play as you learn. Connecting the musical intuition you say you have with the physical world. A lot more fun than clicking in midi. That's really what you're after. Fun. Don't get distracted by trying "get good". With all that said, don't cheap out too much on a keyboard. I would suggest getting one that's playable with both hands. A 2 octave keyboard is great if you're more into programing midi than playing music.

You need to provide a lot more info if you want some good answers. Why do you want a midi keyboard? How much is your budget? How much space do you have for the keyboard? Can you play the piano? What features would be useful to you? What software are you using? Do you want something that looks aesthetically pleasing?

Got a half price deal on a barely used Roland A-300 Pro and that's it. Except for grid controllers/Push, and maybe a desk MIDI keyboard, IMO MIDI controllers are a complete waste of money. I've come to agree with others that synthesizers are more fun standalone than mapped controls without scribble strips, have better keybeds (Fatar), are a better value, and can act as MIDI keyboards and many cases full controllers (with built-in labels!). Drift is now my favorite soft synth, but modern analog VCO synths with "vintage" feature just sound best and most fun.
