I am looking to add a 4.5/5 inch m18 grinder but Milwaukee’s web site is not much help Any recommendations?

If you need a 4.5/5 for size constraints I would go with the 2887 for lock-on, or 2886 for paddle switch. Both of these models are the newer design with the slim head for access in tighter spaces. They also feature the rapid stop brake. If you're okay with a little bit bigger grinder the 2981 and 2980 are capable of utilizing a 6" blade, and have quite a bit more ass behind them. As well as being able to cut deeper. I would not buy the 2880 or 2881 they are a little bit older and don't have the rapid-stop tech. Whatever you do, do not buy a non-fuel model. It is very much worth the extra money for the fuel models on high draw tools. I personally have and use the 2883, great grinder. I prefer the lock-on switch instead of paddle. If the 2887 had been out when I bought mine that's what I would have bought.

There is table further down in this article to compare features which I found helpful in deciding from the many options: https://www.protoolreviews.com/milwaukee-m18-fuel-cordless-angle-grinders/ About to order a 2889-20 for slide switch(locking), braking, and variable speed. One key is not helpful to me personally.

r/MilwaukeeTool on Reddit: Rapidstop and braking grinder the same thing?
December 17, 2024 -
Like the title says: Is a Radidstop grinder and a Braking Grinder the same thing.
I've seen a few ads somewhere that boast instant stopping and then others that say 2-3 seconds.
I really like the safety of a Rapidstop, but how do you know what you're purchasing is equipped with it?
Second: It looks like I can save $100 buying a refurbished grinder. Since I'm not a professional (far from it) and would not be using my grinder every day, is there any reason NOT to buy a refurbished product?

The 2981-20 slide switch 6" grinder I have was a factory refurb. If you are in the states, I really doubt you can save $100, you can get a 2880 5" fuel for $ 160 with a 5.0xc and a charger. The new 3670-20 6" grinder is $ 250 with a 'free' 8Forge pack. The shop I got the refurb at is a licensed service center and they think it was a tool return. They said it was brand new. This shop tests refurbs before putting them on the shelf. It's been a good tool. It is a challenge to find deals like the ones I linked to in Canada. That's why I bought it.
