Adventure Map Puzzle Ideas
Making a Puzzle/Story Adventure map.
Been making and playing maps since beta.
For redstone:
Youtube is your friend:
-Sethbling for general redstone and command blocks. He did a short 4 ep beginers guide with grumm (one of the makes of minecraft) its a good starting place.
-Vechs for his Vechs test world videos on mapping in minecraft also play a few of his superhostile CTW maps. They are a good core to minecraft Maps. I recomend #12 inferno mines and #14 Waking up.
-Know your logic gates. Quiz your self if you have to.
-derp around in creavive. Its seriously the best way to come up with ideas
-dragonoz (youtuber) is also cool
Find online a /give command generator and a summon command grnerator. Through dragonz's webpage if you cant find another you like.
Liquid physics in minecraft:
Water spreads 7 blocks towards the nearest ledge. Water cannot be placed in the nether.
Lava spreads 5 blocks in normal world and 7 in nether.
Lava on water source = smooth stone Lava on water = cobblestone Lava source = obsidian
You cannot change these rules
Flow rate is standard and unchangable

Am looking for some complex puzzle ideas for a map I’m building.
I will try to explain what I currently have but bare with me I am not that good at explaining things well.
I have a Sphinx with a bicolored nemes (pharaoh hat) Purple on one side, green on the other There are 2 windows on each side of the sphinx with colors behind them. each paw of the Sphinx has buttons, each paw cycles one of the windows’ colors. All windows cycle between the 3 primary colors. The solution to this puzzle is to have the green side of the sphinx have yellow and blue, and purple side of the sphinx to have blue and red. This would open up the stairway down into the sphinx
Next room is a fairly large decorated one. With a large circular design on the floor with 5 redstone lamps. Hidden within the room are 5 buttons that have to be found and then pressed in a specific order. Each correct button lights a single light. Each incorrect press resets lights. All lights on would open the next room.
The next room has 4 untouchable armor stands each with a different weapon. each untouchable armor stand is in a specific stance. Then there are 4 other armor stands that can cycle through stances with a press of a button. Every touchable armor stand has 1 matching weapon to an untouchable armor stand The solution to this puzzle is to have the matching armor stands also match stances.
This is the hard one to explain. I have a 3x3 set of redstone lamps with only the middle one on. The goal is the get all lamps on. There are 3x3 set of buttons. Each button toggles on/off it’s corresponding lamp and any adjacent lamps.
If you guys have any more ideas you think would be a good fit for this puzzle map let me know. I have some mediocre ideas in a test world but nothing that quite compares to these puzzles. The goal of the puzzle is to have a small amount of complexity so it’s not boring but also easy enough to solve that 8/10 people would catch on pretty quick.
Hello Minecrafters! I started playing Minecraft not too long ago, but already have started building as much as I can! I used to mod and create a great many things for the Elder Scrolls, specifically Morrowind, but I also worked a lot on Oblivion (not on the actual game, but modding and texture packs and various additonal things). Long story short, is I am creating a Puzzle/Story-driven Adventure map, and will be working on it for as long as it takes until I am satisfied with it. I did have questions for the community, and thought you might be able to help me out.

What would be the best resource for learning more about Redstone and Command blocks?
-
Interactions with water/lava and command blocks. Is it possible to alter how fast they flow, or how far, or various things like that? I have not been able to find any information related directly to that; maybe my Google Fu is not strong enough.

Is there any one of you who either creates Adventure maps regularly or enjoys creating puzzles for people that would enjoy maybe working on a long-term, incredibly large-scale project?
I have enjoyed creating many things for other games, but Minecraft scratches my creation itch better than any game I have ever played and would love to be able to bring the community a project that I care about and put a lot of effort into!
