So as we all know space mods are usualy pretty boring. Just build rocket, set up habitat on desolet single biiome planet (the fun part), find ore, build new rocket, travel to new desolet planet etc..
But recentley I saw this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqx-DgdeuMI and it made me wonder if there are any actualy good and long term fun minecraft space mods, which arent just a funny little adiction to a tech modpack.

In that video the ship was only able to “move” because of relativity, and any other block-based objects such as another ship would not work. Create: Liftoff plans to fix this flaw by using the work-in-progress engine Landlord which works around the problem by stitching small dimensions together at a technical level, causing far less lag than current methods. However, both Landlord and Liftoff (and Create Aeronautics, which is also related) are still in development and it will likely be at least a year until they are released in any capacity. I started tracking the projects in late 2022 and after a missed deadline they’ve stated they won’t set any more, so we won’t have any real idea about progress until the projects are on the cusp of release. Until then, the only major space mods we have available AFAIK are Galacticraft and Advanced Rocketry for versions 1.12.2 and below, with Ad Astra and Gregicality Rocketry for recent versions. AR requires messing quite a bit with configs and datapacks to get the best out of it, while Galacticraft and AA are your classic plug-and-play space mods which it sounds like you want to avoid. I haven’t ever tried it, but I think GR might be closer to what you’re looking for, as like all Greg-style mods it requires lots of technical work and can let you employ space lasers and Dyson spheres in the endgame.

what is the best Minecraft Space mod and why?
Kinda depends what you wanna do with it. Galacticraft is the old staple and simplest, lets you fly to the moon and planets no muss no fuss. Fun atmospheric system, terraforming Mars and such can be fun, but it's not super deep. Advanced Rocketry is complex and complicated and janky as fuck, but allows you to do some really cool stuff if you're willing to tinker with it. Think defining solar systems, setting how bright each day is by the intensity/number of suns, making moons/planetary rings you can see from the surface of planets, creating your own entirely custom planets with custom oregen and atmosphere and gravity etc. Then there's Warpdrive which lets you make your own flyable ships and fly through space. I don't know about any of the others. There's one on 1.16+ which is, as far as I know, just Galacticraft but renamed, but I forget what it's calling itself now. Used to be Space Bosstools. Idk if it's right for you, but heard Galactic Science is pretty good. You start on the moon, that's the unique thing about this modpack ... I started a Skyblock space pack recently that seems pretty fun. It's called Astroblock, you start in a space ship in an asteroid field. More on reddit.com
