So many servers shove this trash down peoples throats. "/vote" Then you get a list of links to go through one by one to get keys to open crates. It is to draw some attention to your server but who in Jeb's name decided this was a good idea? The lists look horrible for finding a good server, the process of voting is horrible, and everyone is the worse for it.
Is it a necessary evil or are people just being sheep here? What is your experience?

In the perfect world, the voting system for Minecraft Server Lists is used to increase the visibility of your server for new players to join the community. In exchange, you'll get some sort of participation prize for bringing the server up higher in the list. So in theory, they're not doing to be evil, just the standard as an advertising method. Personally, I may have submitted my server to ~20 voting sites which did help bring a small bump in player traffic. It did also assist in Domain Authority with all the amazing backlinking. 😂

This doesn’t really answer your question but I run an Australian server and I told my community that if we finish top 3 on minecraft-server-list for votes per month, I’d film myself singing Bohemian rhapsody We used to finish 6th ish We’re now easily third lol Moral of the story: sell your dignity for your server or something I dunno...

Hi, I haven’t played Minecraft in years, but recently I’ve been thinking about creating a server to play with my brother, who currently doesn’t live at home.
If I’m not mistaken, there are two versions: Bedrock and Java.
Bedrock is typically used on consoles (although from what I understand, it can also be installed on PC), while the classic Java version is the one installed on PC.
Are there any major differences between the two?
As for the server, I’m considering two options: • A manually hosted server on a VPS. I’m not sure how this works since players usually need to be on the same LAN, but I assume this can be solved by opening the necessary ports on the VPS (I’m not sure about the costs). • A server hosted by Minecraft Realms (Mojang), which costs €8/month for the Java version and €4/month for the Bedrock version.
I play on PC, while my brother can play on both PC and PlayStation.
Any suggestions?

Bedrock can be installed on windows 10/11 PCs. Minecraft: Java edition can be on Windows/Mac/Linux Officially there isn't a version for bedrock on Mac/Linux https://minecraft.wiki/w/Parity_issue_list - differences between java/bedrock Officially you can't add third party servers on consoles (YMMV on finding workarounds) The easiest would be to host on realms
