I did a build with the Asus ROG B550-I and it worked great. Build write up here https://pcpartpicker.com/b/ZyQD4D motherboard here; https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-strix/rog-strix-b550-i-gaming-model/spec/ I put it in the Fractal Node 304 case (I hate that case will never use again) and it was really nice, helps a lot also to get a SFF PSU. Keep in mind, that if you are using 5600X CPU, you will not have any graphics by default, which may or may not be a problem since you generally need a GPU at least to boot into BIOS a couple times. I am not sure if you can actually get such mobos to run without any graphics at all, never tried. You can add a cheap basic $10 used old single slot GPU from eBay, however, on mITX that is gonna eat up your single PCIe slot. So, you may strongly consider just grabbing a cheap used AMD AM4 APU instead. Or, consider a different system config, depending on how invested you are in to AM4. For that build I got a AMD Ryzen 3 Pro 4350G from eBay to solve this problem but would have just been easier to use Intel with iGPU in the first place. Of course, Intel consumer chips dont have ECC :) if you really really want to stick with the 5600X then I would consider bumping up to mATX or ATX instead so you can at least get an extra PCIe slot or two in there, one for a cheap GPU and a spare for any expansion you decide on later. I have an ITX Tower 300 case with a 5090 and 5950x in it. Had to take the whole chasis apart to fit a liquid freezer 420mm rad in there. I thought I could stick 3 fans on the left to get positive pressure in this config, but the fan's won't fit because the motherboard is mATX (it fits in the case, even though it's not documented), and so some of the connectors block the fans.
ITX motherboard would solve this problem for me.
I tried some other SFF PC's in the past but they didn't have the room for the stuff I want, or temps too high, or they were just too large "on the desk". This case is vertical and takes up the same footprint as an NR200, so I want to make this work.
I need to be able to control the 2 radiator fans (rad is missing one as it doesn't fit, but better than a 280mm radiator still), pump, vrm cooler, and three intake fans that I will install on the left, AND the top exhaust and bottom fan. If I divide them up into groups that can be all the same rpm I have:
Pump (will be some constant speed) VRM Fan (low amps, MAYBE can run off pump header or a sys_fan header) Radiator Exhaust Left Intake Top+Bottom
So 4-5 headers total. Otherwise I will have to do it in software which I would like to avoid.
I might be able to run top+bottom on the same header as radiator fans, they will all be very low RPM, and run vrm fan with the pump, that cuts it down to just three, but I would really like four.
Also need two M.2 slots, at least one being gen4.
Is this possible to do? What are the go-to AM4 itx boards?

I really like the Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX. Checks all of the boxes. Looks so much better in person. Just a straight forward board with a simple bios. Type-C header, and 2 M.2 (only one is gen 4x4 i think?). It's handling my 5700x3D and 4070 Super just fine! It also handled my undervolted 5900x when I had that too! 🤙🏼 https://pg.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B550%20Phantom%20Gaming-ITXax/index.asp You're not goin to get 5 fan headers on an AM4 motherboard. I think not even on AM5 either. Most you'll find is like 3 including the CPU fan. You're best bet is to get some daisy chain able fans, or get a fan hub, or buy an adapter that connects multiple fans to one header (slightly different than daisy chaining). As a side note: absolutely under no circumstances should you get the ASUS ROG Strix B550-I. It is incompatible with RTX 4000 and 5000 series GPU's, Asus is aware and has done nothing about it. I had to replace it with the Asrock when I upgraded to a 4070s. On top of that it had probably the dumbest HD-Audio header location you'll ever see. Everything else is great tho, especially if you go for a Radeon card. 👍🏼

This was the cheapest B550 ITX motherboard that I could find at the time of purchasing. I was wondering whether to go with A520 or B550 when choosing but as the A chipsets don't support PBO/CO, I went with this instead. Not only that, PCIE 3.0 on A520 was also a dealbreaker for me. I guess the only thing that I could have wanted more from this was 1 more M2 slot and more USB ports. ... If you want a cheap B550 board to get your AM4 system up and running without a bunch of feature compromises that'll make you wish that you'd gotten something a little better, this is worth the buy.

Hello All,
I'm looking to upgrade my nas running windows server 2019. I have 4 drives in a mirrored pool. This is for photo storage and plex. Yes I know there's options with less overhead and yes I know storage spaces is hated by all but this has been working for me and has been stable for years so I'm staying with it.
I recently upgraded my gaming pc so I have a 5600x laying around and looking for a good low cost used option for an itx am4 motherboard that supports ecc memory and has a 2.5g lan if possible. Any recommendations? Manufacturer websites are vague about which ones actually support ecc functionality not just the mem can use ecc mem with ecc turned off.

June 20, 2021 - I think there are only 3 decent ITX boards, 1 from either Asus, gigabyte, and MSI, in either a b550 or x570 version. I'd go either Gigabyte or Asus, they are both better than the MSI one IMO, pick which ever is cheapest in your area. Both would be great. Avoid the MSI one, the clear cmos button is behind the rear IO shield, you'd have to actually remove the motherboard to clear cmos if you didnt wire up your own switch.

Hi, I'm trying to build inside of a Fractal Terra case and wondering which Mobo to get. I have Ryzen 5 5600 and wood like to have a USB-C port. Would the included cooler be sufficient of should I get one?

Save your money, get a B550M-ITX/ac and use an adapter for USB-C from the USB-A port

I've done a lot of ITX builds, and I've had good luck with the Strix B550-I. It does have a USB-C port. Unfortunately, AM4 ITX boards are getting hard to find (last time I looked anyway). Regarding the cooler, the stock cooler will probably be ok for a 5600. If you find you're not happy with the temps you can always upgrade the cooler later.
