I keep getting targeted by ads for Mint Mobile on here, and I took the bait today to see what they offer. Their pricing is way better than Fi - $30/mo for unlimited data. What am I missing? Can someone tell me what the comparison between Fi and Mint looks like?

Fi has postpaid TMobile speeds and is never deprioritized. They have an insanely good cyber security infrastructure (because google), international coverage is legitimately amazing and the ease of entering a new country is near flawless. Plus you get roaming and another carrier if you have a Fi compatible phone (like a pixel). Basically you're paying a premium for a stellar backend process and coverage. Mint mobile is always deprioritized so your speeds will be slower, their cyber security is a joke (in fact they just had a data breach a couple weeks ago). Their support team is incompetent. The service works fine though and it's cheap. You get what you pay for.

Data sims. You use Google Fi if you want data sims for more devices

Hi All...

I'm currently a Google Fi customer and was thinking about making the move to Mint Mobile. I'm interested if there are any other Google Fi "converts" and your take on now being a Mint customer. I'm also really interested to hear what, if anything, I'll be giving up making the move to Mint?

In case it would matter, I'm using a Pixel 4a 5G unlocked phone

The reason I switched to Mint from Fi was the fact that Google Fi is literally an anxiety inducing service and the fact that $10 for 1GB is expensive! The anxiety with Fi comes with the fact that if you're out and about or in your car and want to listen to a new song you haven't downloaded on Spotify, you know your bill is going to be higher. Same thing with watching a high res video on the go, you know your bill is going to be higher or you might wait to get home first to watch that new movie trailer. Things to note: #1 I use the default APN "fast.tmobile" the sim card comes with, but Mint recommends you change it to some different APN but it is literally broken for me and I can't get any service at all in the city next to me, but leaving it alone gives me T-Mobile coverage. #2 RCS will most likely have issues when you switch, to fix this I cleared app data for "Google Messages" and "Carrier Services". So on your phone it will be fixed but if it still asks to "Verify number" then you have to turn RCS off for about 9 days I would give it and then turn it back on and it will Connect, to fix it on Google's end. RCS is just a buggy mess unfortunately.

I was on fi and switched to mint. I think fi is a better service but it was about price for me. I like the network switching with fi but for the moment mint wins, bar none. I'm a year and a half on mint. No regrets.

Just moved to the US and have been using Mint for the last 6 months. Wondering if I should re-signup for another 6 months on mint or if I should try Google Fi.

I travel a lot for work and my company reimburses up to $50/month for phone service. Is it worth signing up for Google Fi Unlimited premium and eating the extra $15 or stick with mint? Mint is half the price at $30 a month but doesn’t include the ability to roam.

I think Google Fi is worth it over Mint for the higher priority data alone. The Unlimited Premium is nice for the simplicity when traveling internationally so that may be worth $15 extra to not have to deal with a second eSIM when traveling internationally.

I left Verizon for fi 4 lines is $100 unlimited everything. Works better for android phones as they automatically switch service networks for better service. My iPhone would have bad service but I went to s25 ultra an service is way better.
