I own two. Love them. Some thoughts— the Deros is not a pneumatic sander, it’s just kinda in the shape of a pneumatic sander like the the mirka ROS. I just want to be sure we’re on the same page because I have different thoughts on pneumatic sanders. That “pneumatic style” form factor fits really well in my hand and I love it. Other people seem to really hate it because you can knock over the sander and activate it accidentally. I use my 5 inch pad for all wood sanding applications. The six inch pad I have I only use for feathering out drywall mud repairs (I’m a carpenter who does a fair bit of remodeling). The deros is not a “material removing” sander that you can press into service to do things that ought to be done on a planer or jointer. If you want one machine to do it all maybe look at a rotex. needed accessories— “pad savers” which I believe is the same as the interface pad. High quality sand paper, I prefer 3m cubitron II (the original, not the open weave chevron cubitron xtract, but that’s because the xtract can’t really be pressed into hand sanding applications as easily). And lastly a hepa filter equipped dust extractor— absolutely essential. If you don’t have one and can’t afford one, you can’t afford a premium sander, sorry :( Random thoughts— my first one I bought used and it worked until I lost a conductor prong from the cord. “No problem” I thought, “ I’ll just clip the damaged plug end and rewire a replacement”… It never worked, despite outwardly being a totally normal looking set of braided conductors. Good news is that replacement cords are only like 20 USD from mirka. I ended up buying the second DEROS because I was convinced my first one was dead… until the new sander’s cord made the original work. The replacement came from Amazon and I have no complaints about that. I would have liked to try a festool ETS150 because there are better options for pads, but at the time festool availability was very limited. If you want I’ll trade you your old festool for my old mirka straight up. Answer from zedsmith on reddit.com

Just bought a Mirka Deros sander. It was more expensive than my first pickup truck, but well worth it. Here is a 1/4 speed video of some work I'm doing on an old door.

Mirka deros sander no power in
I have a Mirka Leros with the same problem. I will say on the bottom of my board there are two good sized fuses traced directly to the power pins. Yes my board was totally encased in rubber as well. So if you heard a pop sound, maybe check for those. They are about $0.30 each. But of coarse while trying to get that rubber of I tore a coil inductor off. I tried fixing it but with no luck.. unfortunately I can’t rule out that the fuse would have fixed it due to my extra damage. Though one of the fuses had blown. I bought a new replacement board.. and I can’t believe it.. it still doesn’t work! So I’m thinking obviously it is something with the motor. It has feedback wires so maybe in order to turn on a current from the board has to go through a motor sensor then back to the board before it will power up. The motor has six wires. I hope something here will help. I wish I knew how to diagnose a motor like this. More on reddit.com

Mirka Sander,,, hello, I am about to pull the trigger and purchase a Mirka Deros pneumatic sander. I have a 5" festool, but gets kinda heavy, and thought the Mirka would be a good addition. I like to make tables,, not slab tables, more like sofa and coffee tables. Couple questions,, 5" or 6", any needed accessories, I read about an interference pad,,, Lastly, where would u purchase, and would be great to have a link,, thanks so much !!!

Anyone use the Mirka DEROS 350XCV 3" sander for bowls? | American Association of Woodturners
October 19, 2025 - I think I'm running them at about 2,000-2,500 rpm. I make my own disc holders out of foam and mdf which thread onto the sanders. I use Mirka 5" discs. I have a sander for each grit, which makes sanding multiple bowls much easier and more economical, as I don't always use up a disc on every grit.
