Went to a talk by an admissions official at MIT and he said (paraphrasing), "Don't apply unless your math score is above a 750. We consider everything above a 750 the same. English score? Yeah, we kind of look at that, but we really don't care. Make sure it's not embarrassing. We only really care about the math score."
