A midcentury modern style entryway bench with shoe rack I built. Made with 5/4 air dried California grown Walnut, mortise and tenon joinery and finished with Odie's oil. Patch detail to cover a knot hole in a pixelated fashion for the bench top. Very fun build to do. : interiordecorating
Modern Work Bench Design
How often do we see 6/2 bench splits in the modern game?
Until the game against Scotland, Eddie had only done it four times in four years. Suspect we're seeing the influence of Matt Proudfoot there.
In general, I think it's quite common in France and therefore a bit in the Heineken Cup (to combat French teams). But it requires forwards who can actually make an impact off the bench (eg SA more than, say, Scotland) and backs with versatility (England definitely have this).
I wrote a thing on tactical trends in the RWC that we might see more of and I was a bit sceptical of the 6/2 bench because I don't think many teams have the personnel for it. England DO but it was noticeable that Eddie didn't use two of his forwards and one of his backs from the bench vs Scotland.

This is a genuine question. What makes this mid-century and modern? To me that sounds like completely different things.
