We had an old Craftsman with that same layout and did have the set up the way you are describing, but I prefer flexibility so we have ours on a wall mount that can swivel 180 degrees and accommodate many different seating layouts. That is definitely the best spot for the TV. My first instinct was to put the couch in the “command position” where the chairs are now to let in more light but if you prefer sitting in the chairs then that looks great. Is this open concept to a dining/kitchen area? More on reddit.com

You need a rug for sure. I don't know if replacing the sofa is an option but if it is, I would recommend going with not a sectional (mostly so it doesn't look like the sofa is eating the coffee table) and a sofa with visible legs would add some dimension to the room. I don't think your curtains are doing you any favors, I would replace with a nice Roman shade. You could do an accent wall or a large piece of artwork on the wall opposite the door, to draw the eye when you first walk in. Any other suggestions would really depend on what your style and taste is. Are you more minimalist or maximalist? Traditional or modern? Eclectic, bohemian, vintage/mid century?

Per title, the way that I’d like to this this up is to make the room by the front door the living room with the TV against the wall with the high window. This would create an entry walkway from the front door behind the couch, but it leaves the couch seated relatively close the TV.
The second room next to this will be used as a dining room/seating area, as well as a place for some things like my animal’s kennels. It’s not a great place for the TV and couch because of all the built-ins on that side of the room.
The previous owners had the couch against the big window by the front door and a projector screen attached to the beam across the ceiling, but I have a nice TV that I’d prefer to use if it is possible.

You already have a bunch of shoes standing at the entryway, that won't get better! Let me tell you as someone who didn't have a proper entryway for a while: every jacket and bag and dog leash is going to end up on the couch if it is directly next to the main door. I am not the best with dimensions but I thought about something like an open wardrobe with storage for shoes and jackets and leashes and then maybe a wall mount to the dining room area with a movable arm so that the TV can be put neatly to the wall underneath the windows when you want to open up the room more and more inside the room when you want more direct view from the couch? For a more closed couch area maybe the swivel arm would also work the other way round? So that the couch faces the big window and the screen can be moved between in front of the big window and tucked away under the high one?

Recently moved into a new house and I need some help. I have an 85” tv on my 15’ wide living room area that is just about 20’ long with 10’ ceilings. The wall with the clock is 8’ wide. I’m trying to figure out how to place furniture (sectional, couch, loveseat, chairs, etc.) so that I can accommodate more guests without being too crowded and allow for a walkway to the kitchen.
I’m open to any ideas or suggestions. I’m not committed to any of the current furniture; I consider it temporary. Moving the tv, wall treatments, a console, bookcases, fireplace insert, etc are all things I am open to doing.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

I agree with the other commenter about the current furniture placement…I would switch the positions of the sofa and chairs and see how that flows. I would also consider getting a longer TV unit. The TV stand should ideally be wider than the TV so that it doesn’t look so top-heavy. Look for one that is at least 90” long
