I am considering buying a velvet bench, an armless loveseat and some dining chairs to use for my dining room.
Colors of the dining room will be primarily dark and medium blue, white and marigold.
Here’s the kicker - I have a 6 month old baby, 2 dogs and 2 cats.
Originally I was thinking of getting dark blue velvet to hide the inevitable stains not only from the baby but from the messy bessy’s that my husband and I are. Then I realized the light hairs from my animals will show up so easily. I considered light blue or marigold for the velvet but then stains will show up easily on it right? White is definitely out for us unless velvet doesn’t stain or something lol.
Considering leather but the pickings on blue leather have been slim. I found some white but I’m still nervous about it staining even though it’s leather… you just never know with kids! And I haven’t checked for marigold but that might work too if the velvet doesn’t.
Anyway is velvet an awful idea with a small child and so much animal fur?

Anything but velvet unless you want to spend your days hoovering and have bought stocks in lint rollers. Also, velvet shreds remarkably easy. Source: have cats. Had a velvet cushion. All my chair seats are 100% cotton or linen now as the material is more durable, and they're very easy to clean.

Hello! Slowly designing our living room and stumped on what kind of accent chair to put in there since seated is limited to the sofa. I was thinking something smaller and lower to the group diagonal from the couch like a Barcelona chair? I could bring the sofa back a few inches to make more room. We are also thinking to replace our bar stools to ones that tuck underneath to make even more space.
Any thoughts help!
