What’s everyone’s opinions on IKEA cabinetry?
New cheap Ikea modular kitchen cabinets, anyone dealt with them yet?
Well first...you need to edit the "cheap" out of your title and replace it with "inexpensive."
What your about to read needs me to legitimize myself. Im a 3rd generation tradesman with at least 12 years of school equalling 3 journeyman tickets. Im a Journeyman Painter, Journeyman Carpenter and a Journeyman Electrician.
Cabinet companies can go fuck right off. They are running an overpriced racket gouging the fuck out of customers. I will ONLY install Ikea cabinets. I use my background to properly trim them out to avoid ikea's plastic toekicks and overpriced gabels.
The boxes, hardware and doors are hands down better then industry standard AND backed by a 25 year garuntee. ..and thats from Ikea, not Joe's custom cabinets. "Building" takes far less time then me building a custom set and once the rail system is up, the install like a breeze.
To summarize... Fuck cabinet makers, IKEA is legit.
Edit: also everyone seems to think you hang the cabinets through the backerboard which is 1/8th shitboard. Thats not the case. Ikea created a rail system where all the cabinets are hung onto a hidden rail system. It's extremely secure.

I’ve seen several posts on here of people replacing kitchen and closet cabinets with IKEA stuff and it always seems like the first few comments are “IKEA stuff is junk that will break right away” and “IKEA is great for the money and mine has lasted a long time”. What has your experience been?
