December 18, 2022 - This is the dumbest faucet ever. When batteries die the faucet fails to work. It’s either stuck on or stuck off. This is like a $300 clearly over engineered product. I called Moen awhile ago and they confirmed it will not operate without batteries lol.

April 3, 2024 - I have a 5+ year old Moen motionsense kitchen faucet. The came down in the morning and the faucet was running. Not a full wide open but a steady stream that was much more than a drip. Couldn’t get it to stop. Ended up turning the water off. Came back to it a few hours later, turned the water on and it worked fine.

For a smart faucet that won’t shut off, first check the solenoid valve for debris or damage. Clean the sensor lens to ensure it’s not falsely detecting motion. Inspect the control module connections for loose wiring.

see more Through a bit of research, the reason why ~2016 purchasers state that the MOTIONSENSE version of this tap will work without power, and ~2018 ones state that it won't, is because Moen confirmed with me over the phone that about 2 years ago they changed the design such that the control box that only controlled the sensor activation of the faucet, to instead control any water flow by replacing the valve behind the counter top handle with a switch that then could start water flowing through the control box under the sink alongside same commands from the sensors.

If your Moen MotionSense faucet’s light blinks then goes off, the black control box may be faulty. Check battery contacts for corrosion and ensure all six AA batteries are fresh and properly seated.
