HELP! Costco Moen Sensor Faucet
Videos
Hi, I have a Moen Hands-Free Kitchen Faucet (INS10613A) that I bought within the past year from Home Depot. It's hands-free because in addition to a normal faucet handle, it has a sensor on the side where you can wave your hand in front of it to turn on the water flow and then wave your hand in front of the sensor again to turn it off. It's powered by a battery pack that holds 5 AA batteries.
The trouble with the faucet is that sometimes neither the handle nor the sensor will start the flow of water. This lasts from anywhere to a few seconds to a few minutes. During this time, it may "spurt" water a couple times. The sensor flashes, which seems like a diagnostic signal, but nothing in the troubleshooting section of the manual matches the behavior of my faucet. Sometimes when the faucet stops working and spurts, the sensor does not flash.
I have tried replacing the batteries in the battery pack twice, but it doesn't seem to resolve the issue. Sometimes, unplugging the battery pack cord from the unit, waiting a minute, and then plugging it back in resolves the problem for a while, but sometimes not.
I put a video of the spurting and the sensor flashing on YouTube. At the end of the video, I tried to show how the handle won't start the water, but I must have just caught it at the end of its malfunctioning phase, because the water turns on. Please take my word for it that the handle doesn't always work. :)
