Mohawk Vinyl Flooring from Costco After 4 Years - OK to Meh due to defect
So you messed up and it’s not covered by their warranty. Cork underneath a vinyl planking that has an attached underlay isn’t allowed. This isn’t the normal repercussion but something happened. More on reddit.com

Has anyone used the Mohawk Home Waterproof Rigid Vinyl Flooring from Costco?
We installed 1200 sq ft of it in my house a few months ago and we like it. It's relatively easy to clean, looks nice, and my only real gripe so far is that if it gets scratched and the scratch isn't fixed right away, it fills in with crap. At that point it's very much visible and a pain in the ass to fix. I wouldn't call it 100% waterproof though no matter what the box says. Also, if it's not installed properly with enough gap space along the room edges, it WILL buckle a bit over time but that's probably true for any vinyl flooring. Would I install it again? Yes. However, I would be more mindful about scratches next time because they DO become very noticeable. Also, you absolutely will want to put underlayment down. It comes with underlayment attached, but trust me when I say it does fuck all for noise transmission. We put down quiet walk and it made a huge difference. Still nowhere near as quiet as even shitty carpet would be, but better than no underlayment at all. Also, make sure your floors are level. This stuff isn't forgiving the same way carpet and linoleum are. More on reddit.com

Question on Mohawk vinyl install…
Alright so here’s what’s wrong with your thinking on this one. You start in one corner and work your way across the room with sliding the board under the existing base board but making sure to have a gap still (that you can see). Now how do you put that last plank in on every row and if you figure that one out, how do you install the final row with getting it under the base? So the right thing to do is to remove the existing base boards, install correctly by leaving a consistent gap, and finish with nicely installed base boards put snuggly down to the floor leaving no gaps. r/Flooring on Reddit: Mohawk Vinyl Flooring from Costco After 4 Years - OK to Meh due to defect
April 18, 2024 -

Back in March 2020, I spent close to $1,400 on Mohawk Vinyl Floor Planks from Costco to refloor my Living & Bedrooms. It was a DIY job, flattened the floors to tolerance, laid down cork underlayment and left ample space for expansion/contraction. To this day, there had been no bubbling, airgaps, squeaking or nightmare shifting that I see warned when installations are bad.

But this last year, I did notice every plank is warping individually, creating an upward crown in the center of the plank, and valleys at every joint. It's very noticeable when I vacuum; like going through a whoops or moguls. I doubt there is any recourse with the company, and for overall $2500 and my own labor, I can probably live with it for another 10-15 years, as long as this is the only problem I'm experiencing.

I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this warp/bowing of the planks. I haven't found anything related this in my google searches. Attached are pictures of scrap pieces I've kept which show the exact same plank warping and some of the finished product (not recent). Thanks for reading/replying!
