Im also a hot sleeper, and tried a down duvet but ended up returning it bc I just got too hot. I recently got the THX 6A silk comforter and wow, I love it. It’s so silky, the fabric is buttery soft and it drapes over me as I’m sleeping. I don’t get too hot at night and find it to be just right. I live in a cold climate, so I might eventually get a second winter silk comforter and put them both in the same cover, for the extra cold nights that are below zero, but for now just one is perfect. I thought about getting the Mommesilk one and almost did, but I heard the THX has less silk, so not as warm, so I thought it,ight be better. The only drawback with silk comforters is they all have a slim profile, so you won’t have that puffy, down duvet look. I bought the THX Summer 6A in February of this year. Im also in the Midwest and sleep pretty hot. I loved it in winter, I did layer a cotton waffle blanket (along with a top sheet) and it was totally perfect, super cozy and I never woke up hot. Now that we’re in summer, I’ve been sleeping with just the top sheet, and the silk comforter on the lower half of my body, and it’s been pretty great. I keep my ac at 60 degrees, so it’s pretty cold. I heard the THX was thinner than the Mommesilk, so went with that. I like how soft it is but still has some weight to it. I do wish it was more fluffy, like a down duvet, but I don’t think you can get that effect with silk, More on reddit.com

I bought the Mommesil 2-in 1 and used it for part of the winter in a duvet cover. I kept room temps around low 60's F. I removed one layer and found It was just about as warm, so I keep the second layer in the linen closet for occasional extra-cold use now. One layer is perfect for year-round use IMO. I used a down comforter previously and found it difficult for regulating temperatures — I'd get hot, throw it off, get cold, pull it back on . The single layer of silk filling has been a new experience that I like very much. It has a good heft and stays planted on the bed and around you as opposed to lightweight down. It breathes, so it helps wick away moisture. I use the Cal.King size with a same size cover from Riley or Coyuchi on a queen size bed so it drapes nicely almost to the floor which is part of the reason it stays put all night long. Yeah, unfortunately all silk products pretty much originate from China and you have to go on their say-so on the legitimacy of their products. When I got a silk insert from Mommesilk for my parents a few years back I was pretty impressed with their quality and the silk inside of it, from what I was able to test, was genuine, but if they have recently gone downhill then it's definitely something I would like to know for future if it proves true. One of the best ways to 'test' silk products is via a burn test, to see if it's legit silk or something else.
