March 14, 2023 - Others might describe it as quirky, edgy and chaotic, but I find the liveliness and diversity of Camden Market beautiful. I lived in Camden for two years when I first moved to London, and it was the perfect place for a university student. Camden Market is one of the best street food markets in London, as well as selling souvenirs, some vintage clothing, jewellery and all sorts of bits and bobs. The part of the market developed around the old stables is the one I find most intriguing.

Woolwich Town Hall – discover the incredibly pretty Town Hall in south-east London. The pink walls and marble floors conjure images of charming balls. St Dunstan in the East – take Insta-worthy pictures in the beautiful ruins of St Dunstan in the East church, now a gorgeous garden after falling into disrepair during the Blitz. Hall Place – dress up in Tudor outfits, linger in the rose garden and admire the splendour of the courtyard.

January 4, 2021 - Parsons Green is even further away, but it’s still an amazing place to live. There are plenty of delis, little coffee shops and small parks nearby and the area is very pretty as well! Another area that I really like and would definitely recommend is Queen’s Park. Queen’s Park is located on the Bakerloo line, Zone 2 of London and it has the most families I’ve ever seen!

Seventh on our list of the best places to live near London is Hurley. Nicknamed “Gorgeous-on-Thames”, Hurley is a medieval village with delightful old houses and an immaculate setting. While it doesn’t have the best transport connections, its scenic views may be enough to make up for it. If you want to take some of the most stunning photos simply by stepping outside your home, you won’t be disappointed with Hurley.

September 5, 2025 - Once your belly is sufficiently full, walk north to Jam in a Jar for a nightcap and live music. The uber-cool region of London Town has become the go-to area for hipsters and their fixie bikes (AKA Real Housewives of Clapton) to reside. You can see why – Broadway Market is the place to go for artisan breads and coffees, nearby Columbia Road for flowers and all manner of plants, and London Fields for summer barbecues and wine-fuelled dates.

July 7, 2025 - Tucked away as a hidden gem in Covent Garden, Neal’s Yard is a small but striking courtyard filled with brightly painted buildings and independent cafés. The deep blues, oranges and greens of the shopfronts make it one of the most photogenic places to visit in London. Neal’s Yard holds a special place in my heart because Covent Garden was the first neighbourhood I lived in when I moved to London.

In consultation with the estate agency Hamptons, and canvassing other agents based around the capital, we’ve picked out London’s top neighbourhoods, and an alternative option – many sharing village-like features such as a central green or a high street with independent shops – within each of the city’s 32 boroughs.
