Help me find a comfortable sofa bed/modular bed for home office/guest bedroom.
[BIFL Request] The quest continues for a comfortable, and durable sleeper sofa. About to bang my head against the wall!!
This is such an American problem. I have to tell you, the choices for sleeper sofas is amazing in Scandinavia and other parts of Europe. You may want to look into whether you can find a Scandinavian design furniture store near you or try and order (although this could be expensive).

Does anyone use chairs that convert to beds?
How do you make a sofa bed more comfortable?
Just like with a regular bed, you can add a mattress topper to make the bed more comfortable. Alternatively, a spare duvet can double as a make-shift mattress topper. Throw pillows, blankets and throws can add comfort, and if the situation is really desperate, you can replace the mattress entirely.
Is a sofa bed as comfortable to sit on as a main sofa?
Your average sofa bed might not feel as comfortable as a standard sofa, as the internal frame makes the seats feel firmer. A click-clack sofa bed often has a straighter back with less cushioning, so it isn’t as comfortable to lean back.
Look for a sofa bed with high-density seat cushions and softer back cushions for a better balance of comfort and support.
What should I measure before buying a sofa bed for my room?
Measure the height, width, and length of the sofa when closed, as well as the height, width, and length of the sofa bed when opened.
Allow at least 30cm of clearance on one or both sides of the sofa so that your guests can comfortably get into and out of bed and move around the room.
If you want to use your sofa bed upstairs, measure the width and height of the staircase and doorways to make sure you can move it into position. If possible, measure the sofa bed in a showroom before you buy, as dimensions online may not always be accurate.

So it appears that I am not going back to the office anytime soon. I have been working out of the spare bedroom where there is a GIANT queen size sleigh bed ca. 1992 we inherited. It’s a look 😬.
Anyway I am hoping to “modernize” the space a bit but here is the kicker. Nor my husband or I have family nearby which means that when family visits they use this bedroom - so I need something that will work for a couple aging adults who are not in great shape. Ideally around or below 2k. I love the look of the couches/daybeds on Homary but I don’t want to order from them as the reviews have not been promising. Help!
TL:DR: need to find something that doubles as a queen bed for aging relatives that also works in a home office. Have one kid (slightly older) and one dog. Would like to budget around 1k. Currently in MA.
I am going nuts checking out sleeper sofas and can't for the life of me find a sofa that meets the following criteria:
-
Queen size or 3 seater (b/w 79-82 inches length)
-
Under $3500
-
Utilizes the Tiffany 24/7 platform sleeper system (or equivalent, where the "cot" is actually a slab of wood w/ tempurpedic (or equivalent) material for the mattress; no hamock style beds).
-
The couch part is durable and will hold up as being the main couch in a 2 bedroom apartment.
-
Not expecting it to last 50 years, but 5-10 would be nice.
I thought I had finally found the one when we saw the American Leather Brynlee (http://www.americanleather.com/Comfort-Sleeper/Comfort-Sleeper-Styles/Brynlee.aspx) but so glad we didn't pull the trigger b/c the cushions for the couch seem to flatten and slide all over the place too early (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gw-SVgXL1g and http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/american-leather-c343901.html).
We then saw the Room and Board Berin Sleeper Sofa (http://www.roomandboard.com/catalog/living/sleeper-sofas/berin-day-and-night-sleeper-sofas) which was actually slightly cheaper and very comparable, then we saw it was manufactured in Texas, which is where American Leather are made, so I'm guessing it's just a re-labeled Brynlee that they probably make for a few other brands as well.
So those two are the type of sofas we're looking for, and would be 100% perfect if the cushions lasted.
Help please!!!

I tried out the Palliser MyComfort sleeper sofa when we were sofa bed shopping a few months ago. This sofa bed is so well built it could easily serve as a full time bed and couch. The mattress is firm and flat, the construction is solid and the mechanism and sofa design are top notch. They have some type of patented mechanism.
I was truly amazed that this was a sofa bed when I tested it in the show room.

We are having a baby soon, and anticipating two grandmas who will want to come for overnight visits. We are looking to add a sleeper sofa to our apartment to give them somewhere nice to sleep, and want something that will last a long time as we don’t like to be wasteful.
DAE have a sleeper sofa they don’t feel bad having a 70 yr old parent spend the night on?
We’re also open to other solutions!
ETA: we went with a daybed from Wayfair with our own twin mattresses added to them. Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
I have a couple of hotel-style rooms in the back wing of my house that I rent out through booking-dot-com. I rent out the entire upstairs wing through Airbnb. I originally thought the back wing would be attractive to business travelers, but I have had almost none. But what I have had is lots of work groups, since I have some fold-out mattresses and can sleep six or more people. I am trying to increase my potential occupancy numbers, as two men can share a room, but usually not a queen bed.
I want to add four chairs that will fold out to a twin-size bed. One will go in each of my queen bedrooms, one in my back living room, and one in my 2 bedroom cottage. I want these chairs to look really nice, not like a folded up bed; in other words, like a chair I bought for the room. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am likely to buy off of Amazon, and will buy one chair first to see what it looks like, but I still don't want to be stuck with even one bad-looking chair. My overall decor is Mid-Century Modern, FWIW, as in the back wing of my house could have served as a set for Mad Men.
