Oriental, Downer, Avalon. There are only 7 screens between the three of them, so you're not going to be able to see every movie at those places, and the Oriental and Downer in particular also show a lot of indie, arthouse, foreign, and repertory stuff (which is frankly better, but noting it for those exclusively interested in the latest mid blockbusters). For chain theaters, I find the best solution to bad audiences is being intentional about when you go. Weekend mornings are often good times to go, at least to non-family movies. If you have the option of going during the daytime on weekdays, those are also good times. More on reddit.com

When I lived in the south, we had a chain called Alamo Drafthouse that would kick you out for talking or texting and they did NOT play around about it. Ive noticed lately a huge uptick in young kids being in r rated movies and just being loud and answering calls and chatting through the entire movie. Are there any theaters in or within 30 mins of the city that are more geared towards adults/ a little more serious about movie etiquette or is this just a sign of the times everywhere? At this point I’m considering just seeing movies at the Chicago alamo when I’m in town 😔

I've never had a problem with Marcus Northshore or Marcus Majestic in Brookfield. On the rare occasion there's youths causing problems. I've been able to tell staff and they've gotten booted immediately.

I like the Majestic out in Brookfield. I actually prefer Bistro seating because the added costs filters out the children, and people usually have a larger respect for the rest of the audience, so its ends up being quieter experience. It also tends to be a lot of couples going to see movies and getting a beer and maybe some food.
