For some reason it’s stuck at 57 degrees and the ez debug lights for vga and boot are on. It’s been like this for 10min. I also only did this update because I was having problems with my cpu temps and solved the thermal and pump issues.

Hello everyone, I unfortunately have a serious problem with my motherboard. I own a MSI X570 MAG Tomahawk Wi-Fi motherboard and today I tried updating BIOS through MSI Center. Unfortunately the BIOS Update has been stuck at 0% for one hour and the screen seems frozen: neither CPU temps nor CPU RPM numbers change… I don’t know what to do. Can anyone help? Thanks.
UPDATE: turned it off and on again and everything’s working perfectly! Lesson learnt 🤞🏻
I have MSI Z97 MPOWER MAX AC mobo and can't any more update my bios. I downloaded MSI Live Update 6 and tried to update the bios in window mode.

After bios download from MSI Live i got this: http://prnt.sc/b3wq5h. After starting bios update in window mode this comes up: http://prnt.sc/b3wqm5. Its stucking at: bios is updating and no DOS is coming up to prepare the update and restart the computer. I waited 20mins...

If i choose DOS mode its asking for a USB Stick. I plugged a 2GB stick and MSI Live format my disk and copy the required bios files for me on the stick. Then i go to Bios and press M-FLASH and says that not media found. I looked the USB stick properties and its fat32 2GB and nothing should be wrong. Am i doing something wrong?
Did you correctly copy the bios files onto the USB? It may have been in a format that the bios doesn't recognise?
Its ok i made it manually with FreeDos. MSI Live 6 window mode bios update loads the process in task manager up but its not working and the whole process stuck at "bios is updating" window. Even M-Flash in msi uefi bios not working it says "media not found" : How i did manually then?

UPDATE: Shut it down and turned it back on. After showing the Bios panel everything is working fine, Windows 10 included.
Ok so I managed to turn it on and the bios panel is showing as usual… I hope this means everything’s fine…
it has bios flash, so regardless, it should be okay. I'd restart your pc, despite it saying not to. I believe that bios flash will still work even if your current bios is corrupted.
and from now on, update the bios from within the bios, not within windows
Please help me. I have MSI H610M-E DDR4 motherboard, the BIOS turned into white screen after i update the BIOS to the latest version. Weirdly enough i technically can control the BIOS but i scared to mess some setting with mouse. And another problem is MSI logo not showing when booting
My goal is just rollback the BIOS to 7D48vI9 2024-08-22 which my latest working BIOS, and the current one is 7D48vID 2025-08-29 which is newest BIOS version available for my motherboard.
I just wish i could instantly go to M-Flash without opening BIOS
I should've Google'd this prior to assuming it'd be fine.
I built my new Z87-G45-based gaming PC a few months ago, and everything has been great. It worked very well, and was very fast. The Fractal R4 case made it all look awesome as well (thanks, r/buildapc.)
With that said, MSI Live Update was installed when I installed the various motherboard drivers. It seemed to work well and helped keep my various drivers up to date.
Today I noticed there was an update to MSI Live Update (forgot the version, it may have been available for a while.) I installed the updated, and the software mentioned that all sorts of stuff had available updates.
I installed them as it recommended, and all of the sudden everything went black. A reboot didn't fix it. Clearing the CMOS didn't fix it.
So -- for those of you who are have this tool -- DO NOT USE IT TO UPDATE YOUR BIOS!
Google reveals that this has happened to numerous people.
Just thought I'd share.

Edit -
I should add that this applies to any motherboard manufacturer as well. You should never flash your BIOS in Windows.
Edit #2 -
u/noneabove1182 reports that MSI Live Update messed other stuff up as well.
u/JVista reports similar problems.
I prefer to just not update drivers and/or the BIOS unless there's actually something wrong or broken.
Owner of Z87-G45-Gaming. Confirmed. This happened to me. $45 later my mobo works. Fuck Live Update. When I spoke with MSI Tech Support on the phone the agent was SURPRISED that their live update included a windows BIOS flash utility. He told me and I quote "NEVER, flash BIOS from windows. You should not need to flash BIOS. If you do follow instructions on our website and use a USB stick." I nearly flipped my shit on him. Then I remembered he's probably making $10/hr and hates his life as much as I did when I was working retail. I thanked him and mailed my mobo in for a fix. I had them update the BIOS while they were at it. By the time I had got it back in the mail 2 weeks later a new BIOS was released. *Facepalm
So I built my PC a year or two ago, it has an MSI B360 Gaming Plus motherboard. Recently i started having issues where my pc wouldn’t restart or shut down all the way, I had to manually power it off every time, it would randomly stop detecting my headphones and my external wifi adapter would randomly stop working. Anyway I realized I should update my BIOS as I haven’t updated it since I built my PC. I downloaded the latest drivers straight from the MSI website, put them on a FAT32 formatted drive and did the whole M-Flash process. Everything went fine until the update should have been finished, it’s currently sitting at 100% but nothing is happening, no more prompts, mouse and keyboard are still locked and it’s just sitting at 100% doing nothing. I had to forcefully turn off my pc with the power button before I did this update so I’m wondering if the update is finished but can’t restart because of whatever issue was happening before, I’m worried about forcefully restarting it and bricking my motherboard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
