Can not find any information on CVE-2024-36877, as it is only reserved but not disclosed apparently. Anyone know what vulnerability is fixed?

Hello,

My motherboard will arrive this week, and I wanted to ask you about the feature of flashing BIOS without the CPU and RAM via the MSI flash BIOS feature. Is it okay to do so? Or should I fully build my PC and then flash BIOS? Also, is the latest 7D75v1E stable? My 7800X3D will arrive later than my mobo, so I thought, why not prepare it for the building.

Yes, the flash drive probably needs to be FAT or FAT32. I doubt that it has to be inserted before power-up, but it does have to be inserted into the correct USB port (see the manual). You press the appropriate BIOS update button either on the back panel or on the mobo somewhere, and wait.

I’m thinking of updating my BIOS. I’ve never done a BIOS update before, so I was wondering if anyone has had any issues updating their MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI mobo to the latest BIOS version.

I’ve obviously had heard the horror stories about boards getting bricked and all that. I’m not sure which version I’m on, but I haven’t updated the board since I got it in December.

Also, I do have EXPO enabled, do I need to turn that off before I try and update? Any advice is much appreciated! 🫶🏻

I'd say you're pretty safe with the latest non beta bios, MSI is mostly thorough with their non beta releases. After update, you'd have to redo ALL of your previous settings including fan curves and what not. It's generally good not to fall too far behind with bios revisions, as they can increase performance, or patch out bugs and security flaws. -note: after update you might need to clear cmos if it hangs, or sit through a long boot on some occasions .

I have found the easiest method with a degree of robustness that is greater than using MSI Center is using M-Flash in BIOS MSI® HOW-TO update BIOS using M-FLASH ? Longer form video of the same process To Flash Update MSI Motherboard BIOS Without USB Flashback Button B650 Edge Wifi No need to change or reset your customizations before updating. M-Flash will do it from default. Updating BIOS will reset BIOS to defaults. If you have some more involved customizations (like custom fan curves or other board/CPU tweaks), write them down or use the Screenshot tool to save them before doing an update. IF you use Bitlocker encryption, ensure it is suspended before you reboot into BIOS to do the update.

They just did rename 7D75v1L2 Beta bios to 7D75v1L . So it gotta be stable

No issues here with my 9800x3d. I don't use 'Gaming Mode' and the only tweaks I made were PBO + CO-20.

So, I upgraded just now from 1O, and so far, nothing bad has happened and Windows started normally ! For the RAM, I just left everything on auto settings (results in 5200 MT/s, even though I don’t think that my RAM has a profile for this speed). I tried OCCT stability test for 5 minutes and there were no errors, so hopefully, I’m fine with the Mixed Refresh mode Normal mode is still the default, actually. Like before, I set -10 to All Cores in Curve Optimizer (I have a Ryzen 7 7700 and I have never tried more undervolt than -10) + limit temperature to 65 °C, and I had to reapply my other settings, like fan curves The patch notes don’t mention it, but this BIOS 1P0 contains AGESA ComboAm5PI 1.3.0.1, not 1.3.0.0

Seems like previous one wasn't stable release then, but works fine for me and gonna skip this one.

I have immediately installed the 1E version, as I was on previously recalled 1D which was having problems with expo. All I can say, EXPO is working again other than that no difference across all bioses from 17 that I tried.

So I have bios update (E7D75AMS.1H0) 2024-05-22 and i am currently on an R5 7600 and was thinking of going for 7800x3d or 9800x3d. I am unsure if my current bios support either of these cpu's because I cant find that exakt version on MSI's website. Looking at other updates around that timeframe I think I could run an 7800x3d without updating but I am not 100% sure.

Any help is appreciated :)

7800X3D should be fine, but I think you will have to update the bios for 9800X3D

Dear everyone,

I'll have my first ever AMD build in a couple of days and I'm not quite sure what are the absolute must settings within the BIOS that I'll need to change for the best possible performance?

I've read a few suggestions in the review section of the webshop I'm picking these up from, one guy mentioned "Memory Context Restore" needs to be enabled for a fast Boot up as well as a couple other things, but I'm not quite sure what else I'd have to tweak.

Could someone who has this combo(or a similar MSI board)provide some suggestions?

I have this exact combination though I only enabled EXPO to run my corsair 64GB vengeance on 6000-CL30 speed, and a fan curve that's quiet enough for the most part using an air cooling. Mine boots in 40-50 seconds to Windows which doesn't bother me.

Ensure rebar support and game mode is enabled and maybe tinker with the curve optimiser if you feel like it. Best to watch a vid how to use the feature but it's simple and can give you better temps + higher sustained clocks
