Hi Reddit community, I’ve just finished building my PC and my mother board (z690 msi) throws me error code A6 ( SCSI DETECT) . What is this. I haven’t installed windows yet but I’ve updated the BIOS , still have this code. What does it mean ? Thanks 🙏
Updated BIOS to the version released today (incidentally, one non-beta release in 6 months, super great product support there MSI). I enable EXPO and reboot, the boot gets past code 15 (memory training) but then gets stuck at code A6. A6 is SCSI Detect, and from various searches it seems like that's looking for a boot drive. I have a boot drive, and can boot no problem without EXPO enabled - it is turning on EXPO that causes this.
Any ideas/help? I am starting to really regret this Motherboard choice...
Edited to add: I can boot in EXPO with 2 sticks, but not 4. Could get 4 to boot in previous beta version I had installed (E7D70AMS.141 - the beta BIOS with the single-CCD 7600X issue). I am now having trouble even getting into the BIOS in the first place with 4 sticks and a clear CMOS.
Edited once more to add: Memory is G.Skill F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR - technically, not on the QVL, but it's the RGB version of F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5N which is on the QVL supported at 6000 for 4 DIMM.
Hi everyone, I just upgraded my computer and have been running into some minor issues.
I have a 7950X3D paired with a MSI MPG X670E and G.Skill DDR5 6000mzh RAM. I have the ram currently installed in A2B2.
My problems stem from me going into bios and turning on EXPO. The default EXPO profile is set to run at 1.35v and 6000mzh but whenever I try that I get the A6 error code. I then tried to manually set the speed down to 5800mzh and the computer booted. However, if I tried to restart it also threw the error.
If I clear CMOS, the ram speed is set to 4800 and I can boot fine + restart with no issues. I have seen A6 can be caused by loose connections but I’ve restarted my computer a couple of times with EXPO off and it boots with no A6 error code so I’m inclined to think it’s the ram causing it. I did check my connections once and didn’t find anything loose but can check if necessary.
Are there any recommendations on how I can get my ram up to 6000mzh and avoid the A6 error?
Any help is appreciated!
Motherboard manual: https://download.msi.com/archive/mnu_exe/mb/MPGX670ECARBONWIFI.pdf
I recently built my pc and it just shows a red error light on the motherboard with briefly error code "A6", which then gets replaced by error code "0d".
My specs are:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x.
Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 Unify ATX AM4.
Memory: Corsair Vengance LPX 2x8 GB DDR4-3000 CL15.
Asus Geforce RTX 2070 Super 8 GB STRIX GAMING Advanced.
PSU: Corsair TX950M
Anybody have any leads as to what could be wrong? I think the IO Shield on my case is a bit misshapen, so i fear that i might have broken the motherboard while struggling to install it.
Edit: Fixed it by updating the bios using the Flash BIOS Function on tje motherboard. Thanks for all the help guys!
Msi mpg Z690 stuck on A6 on first boot up?
Hello, I am a first time builder and i ran into some problems while booting up for the first time! Im still not very knowledgeable but I’ll try my best to explain. The problem im running into is no display upon turning the pc on. The problem is upon boot up no display signal is found. Motherboard (msi mpg z690 force wifi) code gets stuck on A6 (SCSI detect) but no error codes seem to light up that I’ve seen. Sorry if its not explained the best but I would love some help if possible!

Built my pc last night and was able to boot into the BIOS fine but none of my SSD’s were recognized by my mobo.. I have a m.2 Western Digital Black 500gb NVME and a 2.5” drive Samsung 860 EVO and I cannot for the life of my figure out why they aren’t being recognized in my BIOS so I can install windows...
Everything component is brand new, my specs are: i7-8700k Gigabyte AORUS master Z390 16gb G Skill Trident Z RGB RAM EVGA 850W P2 Phanteks Evolv X Currently no graphics card installed as it already has a waterblock on it and I’m currently waiting for the rest of my loop components to ship to me.
So far I have reseated every component, all show up in the bios and run just fine. Have CMOS twice, used different SATA cables, unhooked everything I can think of and have got nowhere. Has anyone had this issue before or is my mobo DOA? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
