I’d go used. You can save way more than a few hundred Things fail on an inverse bell curve. So initial high failures due to assembly errors and not engineered errors. Low failures after that, if it were going to fail by now etc. High failures at the end: parts are wearing out This means you can potentially get more reliability from lightly used than you can with new. The old Murray we had at the last place had a thermal reset circuit breaker under the dash. It would get hot from the corrosion and such and it would have to sit for hours before it would restart again. I took the harness out and cleaned all the terminals with a wire brush and got a new circuit breaker. Easy fix.

I’ve always bought used lawn tractors and mine took a dump last year. Looking to buy my first brand new riding mower. I have a cub cadet dealer in town so my first thought is buying straight from there for maintenance in the future etc. Nothing crazy maybe a xt1 42” mower. My other thought is why not get a beater Murray from HD, 19hp 42” cut that I won’t care that much about running over roots limbs etc and save a few hundred bucks. What would be the better route?
