Ive been trying to set up my google assistant to read out my notifications in my new headphones but when it takes me to settings theres no option to give it access to them. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem before or knows how to fix it.

Same issue here and this was the solution for me: From the home screen, swipe up to activate Google Assistant and say, "Read me my notifications." This brought up an option to allow the Google app notification access. After allowed, I went back into the headphones settings and could enable Google Assistant for them then.

As of September of 24 they removed that feature so now you have to say "read messages" or "read notifications"

Hey All. I just got my Pixel 8 pro and everything is set up except for one thing: Gmail notifications. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get this to work. I played with the settings enough to get them to appear on the drop down when I unlock the phone but they absolutely do not make any noise or vibration to let me know they came in.
I looked at almost every Reddit thread about this problem. I turned off settings and then settings back on. I reset app permissions and notification default settings. I changed settings through the Gmail app itself and the phone settings. I've shut down and turned back on. Uninstalled other apps to make space.
If there is a Reddit thread that appears on Google for this issue, I've tried it. I'm losing my mind here over this. Conveniently enough, as I'm typing this, a test email I sent from a burner account vibrated to let me know it came in but no sound came in.
Anyone know what to do? This is driving me insane.

Hold down Gmail icon > App Info > Notifications > Make sure the "Switch" next to your email is turned on, then tap "Mail" underneath it > Make sure it's set to default and not silent, you should be able to turn on "Pop up" and "Vibration" there. Go into Gmail > Hamburger menu (top left) > Settings > Tap your email > Inbox notifications > Make sure "Notify for every message" is on. Hope this helps

If Gmail doesn't work then give Outlook a go, I've not had any notification issues with it myself. I've read many people having notification issues with Gmail but switching apps is usually the way forward.
