Accessing 'My Maps' in Google Maps
Answering my own post in case anyone else is having this problem because I think I have found a semi-solution. In the end I copied the URL from desktop and sent to my mobile. The URL then opens in Chrome (as opposed to Google Maps). I then added a shortcut to the map on my Android home screen so it is easy to access. It's not perfect, but honestly My Maps integration never has been so I guess it's better than nothing. More on reddit.com

As I remember, Google Maps won't be providing navigation features in their APIs as it will go against their very own product, which is Google Maps which provides navigation. An option would be to go with Google Directions API as well, parse the response, and plot the direction yourself. More on reddit.com

March 3, 2014My First Large React App: Travel Map for saving cities/countries visited
Been working on my first big React project with a couple of people over at ProjectUnicorn.net (developer Slack + Discord group) for a while now. It is a world-map where you can record where you have been/want to go and see your friend's travels (cities/countries) on a single interactive map. Front-end uses React and a couple of map libraries. Still lots to do and improve, primarily looking at improved responsiveness, avoiding re-renders, and minimizing bundle size at the moment but I thought it'd be nice to throw a demo video up and see what people thought. The demo is of a new user who is friends with people who have been all over the world. I've put together a map in My Maps with a lot of pins. But I can't seem to access this in the latest version of Google Maps on Android. I Used to be able to go into my saved maps and access it from there, but can't find this option now.
My Maps app is no longer supported and doesn't show all maps, and when I save it to Google Drive and go to open it, I get an error saying it can't open the map.
Please help! I spent ages putting these pins in, but have no way to access on my phone. Or if you have any recommendations for similar apps let me know.

I was able to view the map I created in My Maps by opening the link in a browser, then clicking the "Preview" button opened it in the Google Maps app. :)

And why can't I open Apple Maps directly from Find My, outside of clicking an icon or getting Directions to something? Is this a limitation of Apple's contract with tomtom/OpenStreetMap? It makes no sense.
Find My has no 3D maps, Look Around or Transit overlays. And I can't find any information of businesses near someone. For example, let's say I want to look up restaurant hours/reviews in someone's surrounding area. I have to;
-
click on that person
-
get directions to them so Maps opens (why?)
-
copy the address it gives me
-
show the search pane so I can paste the address (which only copies the street by the way)
-
add in in the city/state
-
search for that location
-
and ... finally ... get a usable interface to get reviews and hours or businesses in that person's area.
Just ... why? Why can't clicking the icon of a restaurant in Find My give you the same dialog that clicking it in Maps does? Why do you have to "Open in Maps"?

I get what you mean, but the purpose of Find My is to locate your lost objects or find your loved ones when you think they’re lost or they’re unresponsive. It’s not meant to use to navigate around town or read reviews about businesses, that’s not its purpose.
