How to revert to old backup of photos lib… - Apple Community
Can anyone advise on how to revert to an old (April 2021) backup of a very large (50k+) photos library and then move the newer photos into it? Reason: my photo library (Mac Ventura) is hopelessly corrupted. But I seem to have a 2021 backup that has the correct photos to that point. More on discussions.apple.com

How can I download all my photo back on my phone ?!
You used the "Free up space" feature and it did exactly what it said it would do and you confirmed. Chill. Unfortunately the easiest way to get your photos back on your device (that was full, mind you, so you better figure out a way around that first), is to use Google Takeout on a desktop computer to download all of your Google Photos. You can choose just the YYYY-MM-DD folders and ignore all others (those contain dupes for the albums, which will be counter-productive in your case). Also change the default archive size from 2 GB to 50 GB to ease downloading. After downloading, extract the archives, plug your phone into your computer, and copy all the photos back to the DCIM folder on your phone. You can ignore the JSON files. Now also realize you have no backups if your photos are only in Google Photos, especially if you don't have a copy on your phone. Use Google Takeout occasionally (I do it every 2 months) and store those archives in at least 1-2 safe places. More on reddit.com

How to revert to old backup of photos lib… - Apple Community
Restore the older backup from your Time Mahine backups and import the folder of originals and their XML files into the restored library. When you're satisfied that the restored library has ALL of your photos you can delete the current library. ... These are all very helpful suggestions Sparks, OT and Léonie, thank you! So I'll use one of these methods to get a "clean" library (probably my old 2021 backup) and then import the remaining images.

r/googlephotos on Reddit: How do I restore an old backup?
April 20, 2024 -

I broke my phone screen a while ago, so until I got a new one, I have been using my mom's old phone. To access my photos, I logged in to my google photos account, expecting it to load my photos. However, when I checked google photos, I found only my most recent photos (from the past few days), and all of my mom's photos. I don't know why it did this, but now that a have a new phone, I logged in to my account, and saw the same problem. Only my recent photos were in there, along with my mom's photos. I want to restore an old backup of my google photos to get the rest of my photos back, but I can't find it in settings, and every search tells me how to restore only one photo instead of the whole backup. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have been helping my gf move photos from her iPhone to her Mac and am a little jealous of how easy it is.

When she imports photos to her Mac, any duplicates are automatically ignored or later fixed. Her albums are also preserved along with their edits.

My current backup/storage method is using Smart Switch on an external hard drive, this preserves just about everything and can handle duplicates when I update the backup, but the pictures and albums are only viewable if I restore them on a new Samsung device.

I was wondering, is there a better way? I have heard of syncthing, but I am looking to do it wired since I believe that would be faster.

Edit: I educated myself on Syncthing. It's cool. I also realized that wired connections on Android to PC are kinda slow.

Syncthing is cool, but is it reliable and safe to use for getting data on my pc? I also do not like that I can't seem to filter the type of data that is being synced. For example, in the downloads folder on my phone there is pdfs and stuff, but also images. I would want to filter only the images.

So, tonigth I got an alert saying that I had almost no space left on my Google account or something like that. Of course, since the synchronisation is activated I thought that I would simply delete every pics and videos from my "cloud" and keep everything on my phone. Long story short I didn't found how to do so but I saw a message saying that I could free a good chunk of storage by doing something (I really don't remember sorry).

So I do this and all my freaking photos and videos are missing on my phone and are on my Google photo account. I still have very little storage left and so I wanted to redownload everything and even older pictures/videos since my phone have more than enough storage.

I've looked everywhere and tried everything I could but it seems like I can only download 1 pic a time. I can't select everything or only by doing it month by month and if I select more than 1 picture the option to download disappear.

I'm very angry right now and so upset so I'm sorry if I'm not to understandable (I'm not English too so it doesn't help) but if anyone have an answer or a solution I'll be glad to hear it thank you in advance.
