I'm a Customer Service rep for MyRadar, not an independent user, but I'd be happy to answer some of your questions as best I can. The Premium Features subscription is pretty handy, but it depends on how often you use the app and whether or not you'd use the various features unlocked with the subscription. Here's all that comes with the subscription currently: Ad-removal, which removes in-app ad banners and squares The Hurricanes layer, which includes the NHC's cones of probability, found here , and wind speed forecasts) CONUS-wide Road Weather toggle (by default the layer is limited to a range around your current location) Per-Station Radar type, which lets you select individual ground radar stations for a more granular look at local data Historical Radar type, which lets you see radar data from the past, starting from yesterday and spanning as far as 1993 (for CONUS and Puerto Rico) The new RouteCast feature that lets you enter a start and stop point for a trip and get a forecast of the road conditions for the ride Subscribers are also locked into the price they're currently paying so long as they stay consistently subscribed. So as new features get added to the subscription, if you subscribe at $14.99/year and the subscription raises in price down the line, you can keep that initial $14.99/year price so long as your subscription doesn't lapse. Now, is it worth it? I think so, but hopefully we can hear from some other users that have subscribed to get their thoughts on it!

As far as free weather apps go, MyRadar is greatly improved by adding in forecasting radar, as well as forecast charting.
I’ve always used it for current radar, as its hi-def radar and raw/composite radar has always been pretty good when it comes to large areas. It doesn’t plot supercell outbreaks quite as well as local stations, but it’s still good. And they have always had a multitude of layers that are great for forecasting, and looking at current conditions.
But finally adding in forecast radar is a game changer.

A while back they took away the ability to turn off “smoothing” on the high def radar and now recently they took away, what was called, classic radar but it was a pixelated radar similar to the unsmoothed high def radar but just lower definition. I have been displeased with those changed from them but i only use myradar for wide range radar coverage only and not for storm specific details so I’ve accepted defeat.
