r/ComputerHardware on Reddit: MyFlixer Is Full of Ads Now Any Good Alternatives?
September 6, 2025 -

I was trying to watch a show on MyFlixer last night and it felt like every click opened a new tab with some sketchy ad. It used to be smooth and clean, but now I can barely get through an episode without getting interrupted. At one point I had like five tabs pop up just from hitting play. It’s gotten really annoying and honestly makes it not worth using anymore.

I liked it because it was fast and had most of the stuff I wanted, but now the ads ruin the experience completely. I don’t mind a couple here and there, but this feels like overload. Has anyone here switched to something else that works better? I just want something that streams decently without flooding me with ads every second. What’s been working for you?

I used to visit MyFlixer regularly to watch shows for free and access content that isn’t available on my local streaming services. However, I recently tried to access it and found out it has been taken down. Does anyone know of any other websites where I can watch TV shows for free without needing to download anything? I'm specifically looking to watch "Smiling Friends" right now.

Is there something going on with websites like soap2day, theflixertv.to, etc. I’m trying to watch movies on my phone and nothing seems to be streaming.

Title. I use uBlock origin but disabling/removing it doesn't change anything. Specifically, TikTok and myflixerz.to do not load videos (titok gives an error and there is no way to interact with the video window, myflixerz never shows the play button and there is no way to interact with the video window).

I am on an ASUS Zephyrus M16 (2022) with an i7 12900H and 3070ti 8GB VRAM, and 16GB RAM.

Perhaps related: when I launch games and there is a lot of (what I assume) is CPU and disk acitvity, youtube videos pause/resume on their own for several seconds or stop loading and I have to refresh the page. Sometimes playing the games also causes this, notably when the game gets more demanding the videos pause more.

I figure the first is a compatibility issue and the latter is a hardware issue (which I can live with). Any thoughts/similar experiences? I would like to stick to regular mode and not troubleshoot mode if possible.

i was watching movies on myflixer aka an illegal streaming website last night and like all other free streaming websites they redirect you to a new tab, and when that happens usually i press x. but last night after i pressed x, out of nowhere it downloaded an unwanted app (called "NanoPhanoTool" and as im stating this im hoping someone's familiar with it) without any permission and before i could even cancel the download it has already finished and every time i try to delete it it doesnt let me. it keeps telling me that i cant delete it because the file is open even tho it isnt and when i try to click the file nothing appears. this has never happened before, ive been using illegal websites to watch movies but this is the first time something like this happened to me. can anybody help please im begging

January 27, 2023 - From the browser on my game console I go to myflixer.center. Frankly, have been using it for more than a year with no ill effect. Probably won’t open it on my iPad or laptop but I haven’t had any sketchy experiences with it. The extension changes from time to time but it offers amazing content for free.

I want to watch movies and shows on MyFlixer, and will prob need an Adblock because from what I hear, the ads in there are malicious and may have malware. Is brave on its own good enough to be safe? Also I’m on iOS

It should be as good as any other adblocker. Especially on iOS. Just don't go clicking suspicious links and whatnot

Brave's Adblock (Shields) is good against a lot but I don't think it will ever guarantee you can't/won't get malware. It does a fantastic job against most ads, cookies, and trackers, especially as you adjust your settings and put some extra filters on. (Always should add Fanboy Annoyances List and uBlock Annoyances List in the content filters) As to iOS, they have gotten better with it, but Brave iOS Shields is not as efficient as it is on other OS. This is because of limitations placed by Apple. All of that said, it's important to remember that websites like MyFlixer often use rolling ad servers. It's a continuous game of cat and mouse between adblocking and ads. So while it might work good one day, there's always a chance something will change and you'll temporarily experience issues. If this happens, it's usually helpful to report it at https://community.brave.com/c/support-and-troubleshooting/ad-blocking/78 and Brave will update filters so they'll be blocked again, if possible. All of that said, I just went to the site on my iPhone and was able to pull up a couple movies with no issues overall. The reason why I say "overall" is because they had a small banner advertising free anime on zoro.tv on most of the pages there I went to. I'd call it acceptable though, especially knowing what Shields used to be like on iPhone several months ago. But in all the watching, I didn't have any pop-ups and didn't seem to be anything trying to install itself or anything.
