Hi all,
This is hopefully my last year having to do PA state taxes, and of course I am locked out of my MyPath account. My password reset emails don’t work and they keep bringing me through the same cycle of clicking. The state dept. of revenue doesn’t have a number you can call to actually get through to a human, nor do they have an email or chat system that’s even remotely helpful. Any advice on how to get ahold of them or fix my access issue? Thanks!!
I’ve been using MyPath for PA to check in on my taxes. I’ve had no issues for over a year. Yesterday morning I signed in to my account and saw a tax balance that didn’t make sense and planned to work on seeing more about it when I got home from work. When I got home to sign in, I was unable to do so. When I requested the password sent to my email, I received no password. I know the info by heart so I know I did not make those changes. I also have the account set up for text verification upon sign in. I assume I was still somehow hacked and the hacker changed the username, email address, etc. When I called dept of revenue this morning (the number specifically for anything regarding mypath) the woman I spoke to said there was no account associated with my email and no proof that I ever had an account. I’m very concerned, she didn’t seem concerned at all and almost seemed like she didn’t believe that I ever had an account to begin with. Basically, she was no help. I’ve taken security measures on my own accord, contacted credit bureaus, froze accounts, etc.
I wanted to know, has this happened to anyone else? And is there a way to get the department of revenue to delete the hacked mypath account or am I completely screwed? And will this impact filing taxes for next year if someone is holding the account hostage?
