Hi guys,
I would like to buy a domain name. It is cheaper on Namecheap, but I´ve heard mixed reviews about the company. Should I rather go with Cloudflare even though it is more expensive? The domain name is the same.
I am buying it for an NGO, so price is an important consideration...
Thank you.
I looked at name cheap which looks cheap at first. So just to start, you have pay for the domain, (5$ for the first year then 14$/year) then pay for hosting (60$ for first year, then 105$/year), then word press (35$ for first year, then $82/year), I guess that before you build the website. So your cheapest 2nd year would cost over 200$, thats without security, emails, etc. I might as well use wix??
Hi,
I am new to web building and enoying it a lot. I am looking for an approach that enables me to grow a small portfolio and have something of a smooth learning curve.
I started off with a namecheap shared hosting plan (Stellar) and built the first website using their Website Builder. It has worked well - website is in top 5 of the key google searches and everything seems smooth and stable (in last 6 months). Emails were a disaster (Yahoo and MS blocking all mail due to shared hosting), but emails sorted now with MXroute.
I'm looking to create some additional websites for friends. All websites will be for artists and as much a portfolio as a website - a place to market themselves and get inquiries. Volumes will be low (max 100 / day; maybe with peaks of 1000). We will be able to tolerate occasional outages.
Thoughts are to continue with Namecheap and for new websites to use Wordpress through their cpanel. I've done a trial and like the way it works and portability.
I appreciate this is not the "gold standard" (or even close), but I am trying to find something that gives the right balance of cost, quality and simplicity (I am new to this and need a sensible learning curve). With learning curve in mind, keen to understand what others have experienced and what a sensible path might look like?
So far I only used blogger, want to give WordPress a shot, want to know if NameCheap is good for hosting? whats your experience with their hosting?
I’m looking for some advice on Namecheap. I’m at a bit of a crossroads and hoping some of you who have used it can help.
Here's the deal: I recently started a small online business, and I need a reliable domain registrar and hosting provider. I’ve heard Namecheap mentioned a lot, especially for domain registrations, but I’m wondering if it’s the right choice for everything else too, like hosting. I really need ease of use and solid customer support.
I’d also like to avoid spending a ton, so pricing is definitely a factor here.
Has anyone here used Namecheap for both domain registration and hosting? I’d love to hear about your experience with their service, uptime, customer support, and any hidden fees I should be aware of. If there are better alternatives out there, I’m open to suggestions.
Would you recommend Namecheap for a beginner who’s just getting started with an online business, or should I look elsewhere? Any insights, pros, and cons would be super helpful.
Im currently looking for my first proper domain and namecheap currently looks like a good choice to me. But before I go and lock myself to them for many years to come I am very interested in your experiences with them. Currently I mainly hear about how bad GoDaddy is on this site so you seem to have strong opnions on the matter 😄
Hey folks,
I've got a few years of experience with FrontEnd, using GitHub Pages to publish, but I wanna take the next step and manage the publishing properly. I'm aiming to learn what I need to, so I can sell websites to small businesses in the future (e.g., flower shops, photography studios, restaurants; all local).
With that in mind, the first question that pops into my head is the one in the title. Is it a good idea to buy domains on Namecheap, and then connect them to hosting on Hostinger? Or is it better to buy both the domain and hosting on Hostinger? Price-wise, it doesn't seem like there's much difference, so I'm looking for more technical advice.
Or even, is there a better service than Namecheap/Hostinger? I'm considering those because they were recommended to me, and it seems like they have what I need to make the job comfortable. (e.g., Domain privacy, certificate, emails, etc.)
Any advice will be greatly appreciated, and honestly, I still have several more questions, and I know even more will come up along the way. So I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out via DM.
Thanks in advance!
First off, I'm curious whether folks go to namecheap to buy a portfolio domain? Or do you go straight to squarespace (or your preferred host) to buy?
My main question though is about hosting a professional email address. Not sure the best way to set one up. Is that best done through your hosting site or through namecheap? I'd really like it to have those email funnel into a separate mailbox than my existing gmail.
I've been googling and trying to find answers for this, but every time I search it gives me tips on how to set up a google workspace/domain/email (no shocker, especially considering I used google to search).
Curious to hear what others have done for professional emails! TIA

I've had a doman with namecheap for a while with no issues. Curious how their hosting is?
reports are adding up, Namecheap usses ancient apache servers for Reseller Hosting. They have non-repairable lag on all reseller servers. Loading delays of 5 to 20 seconds per page which wavers (loading returns to normal for a few hours every once in a while). Namecheap's Tech support is worthless in the matter, BECAUSE THEY ARE GASLIGHTING YOU. They have no method to fix this problem likely caused by overloading the servers mixed with an architecture that poorly handles over loading + poorly handles wordpress when overloaded.
You will spend many hours with tech support, begging for escalation, and they will escalate and reject the premise even with massive mountains of proof. You can do this many times with the same result. They will blame your websites over and over again. They will ignore the waterfall chart. They will ignore video proof. They will ignore uptime reports and load time reports. They ignore all proof that the lag comes pre-wordpress (server's fault). They will ignore all proof your websites run super fast if installed on alternate hosting.
It is a matter of enormous shame what they are doing. This is for the reseller hosting (not the basic hosting). So they are actually expecting you to sell this piss-poor shambles of a host to other people. If you don't know already, reseller hosting is also used to isolate cpanels so if a website becomes vulnerable it will not spread to other websites. This means you will invest a ton of time getting tons of websites onto thier server, run into problem before long, and then they will gobble huge time from you when you try to get them to fix the 'problem'. Do not even try to migrate to a new reseller server with Namecheap - they are all equally as bad.
I have moved my perfect websites to a real reseller hosting environment that uses Lightspeed servers instead of Apache, and all load times returned to a tiny fraction of a second.
The problem is that in today's time, with these obvious problems, Namecheap's Reseller Hosting is a SCAM.
STAY AWAY FRIENDS!
Hey Buds
... I got a WP site with Namecheap now, and it seems to be working ok.
I now want to add another site... seems like the managed site prices have gone way up.
How's the service working for you... Any complaints?
Thoughts/Comments?
Thanks for the input !
Hello sorry if this is wrong type of post but I am looking for current day reviews of Namecheap, I have search around and reviews I have seen or different discussions I have seen, seem to be quite old, from couple years old to as much as five years ago.
I'm currently with Hostgator and been with them for like 13 years, honestly I have had no problems with them in terms of site performance and everything has run fine, but their billing annoys me, as I've had run ins with them in the past and their latest thing is increases their hosting price by almost double , going from $12.99 to $21.99 with no notice. I could just prepay a year in advance and get it down to what would equal to $16.99.
I already have my domains with namecheap, so I'm trying to decide it Namecheap would be good fit for my sites, I currently have four sites, with one hosting plan with main domain and then three addon domains, the addon domain pulls in more traffic then the main domain. Here is screenshot of traffic from the more view domain.

I'm currently on a grandfather plan that gives me unlimited storage and disk usage, as their current plan of my tier I would be on if signed up today would only be 20GB of space and my data currently sitting at 21GB.
As for migration that one big concern I have, as on top of the add domains, I have plenty of sub domains also and lot of databases.
As for reviews of comments I have seen people say from Namecheap being the best to being one of the worst but from my looking around at webhosts that seem to be a common thing I see as there always be people on both sides no matter what company you are dealing with.
As I said with my current host outside the billing I have had no issues with them and everything works as it should, which makes me question is it really worth finding a new host as I could just prepay the year and deal with what would be a $4 increase from what I was paying. So I'm looking for opinions and comments about how Namecheap hosting is in 2023 and it would be worth while to switch or just stay where I am since for the most part have no issues, outside the said stated one.
Thank you.
I have been trying to find reviews about Namecheap's VPS. All I find is about the shared hosting and not even about their highest offering.
Has anyone used their VPS? How would you compare it with Contabo, Webdock, Ultahost or other? As you can imagine, I am in a tight budget and Namecheap seems affordable enough.
I know this gets asked all the time but I'm just checking what the best options are at the end of 2022. My research suggests Namecheap is a good option for buying the domain name, but then when I look into hosting...I get a bit lost.
Does it make sense to buy the domain and get shared hosting from Namecheap? I assume with that alone I can then go build a store using Wix or Shopify? I don't need anything else?
And then business emails...I see Namecheap also offer that. I was going to use google, but Namecheap's is...well, cheap. Has anyone had any experience with their emails?
I'm on the stellar business plan and i feel like the host might be the problem. I've got lightspeed cache alll setup, only one theme, and I'm using Cloudflare.
does anyone else feel like namecheap is bad? sucks because they are relatively cheap.
they suspended my account without talking to me first.
they stole my domains.
do your thing interwebs.
Apologies if this silly question pops out all the time in this sub. I genuinely am a noob but I have to create a website for my portfolio.
I don't know if I should buy a domain separately or buy a web hosting together. My main preferences are cheap and flexible/various designs.
I am considering moving from Namecheap hosting although it has not been bad to me. Here is my setup:
4-5 sites, all personal projects I would like to keep alive. 1 main site where I am focusing efforts. Combined weekly traffic should be under 1000 visits - expecting it to go up by a bit.
Using Cloudflare for speed optimization, SSL, and as a registrar for some domains (some others are still on Namecheap registrar)
15 total domains. 10 being used for cold emailing.
About 40 email addresses are hosted on Namecheap hosting. Cold emails are being sent via Pipl.
Trying to keep it as cheap as possible without sacrificing too much on speed. Ideally would like a multi year plan so I can set and forget.
Not too technical, no coding skills. This means free migrations would be awesome. CPanel kinda needed since I will be moving existing sites and emails (unless I am not properly informed and I can use other server management tools).
Would appreciate your advice. Thank you in advance!
