Napoleon, Mendota, Heat n Glo, or Regency?
All gas direct vent fireplaces will be behind glass. The screen front is a code requirement for safety and is attached to the fireplace (i.e.not a hanging screen that can be slid open). I'm a big fan of HHT products, of which Heat N Glo is apart of. The parent company HHT is likely the biggest in the industry. They offer wifi control, but the app and functionality is better with the remote. Waste of money imo for any fireplace. I don't know why you would need it when the remote does everything. Most direct vent fireplaces are going to require some sort of interior panels, be it brick look of reflective black glass. There might be some low BTU models that don't. Mendota is great, but tends to be pricey. Napoleon is fine until you have problems. I don't sell it but I've heard support can be troublesome. No experience with Regency. It's not sold locally by me. I know zilch about fireplaces/stoves but am comparing this to a bigger (I think Hearthstone) and presumably better one for about $2200 more - are more expensive fireplaces generally much better in quality? Or are they more like cars, where more expensive means more gadgets & fanciness but not necessarily better quality? More on reddit.com

September 19, 2021Help me choose between lopi , Napoleon and Mendota brands of gas inserts . Mendota is around 10k the other two are around 8 k
I use to install both Napoleon and Mendota's for a living. Throughout all of the inserts I've put in, I would have to personally go with Mendota They are a little bit more expensive, yes, but in all honesty you get what you pay for with these Not sure about the lopi, but the other two do have basically the same features, but the Mendota will out perform and out live the Napoleon every time That being said, in the end it's your choice, I'm sure you'll be happy with anything More on reddit.com

We ripped down our brick fireplace and chimney and want to replace it with a gas fireplace during a remodel. Looking at the traditional shaped models from these three brands and trying to figure out if any of them have particularly better value + reliability + efficiency than the others? Looking for basic log media w glowing embers, screen front (not glass), plain black background (reflective glass not needed), and WiFi/app control. Thanks!!
