Hello fellow Piros! I’m hoping you might steer me towards a natural gas insert I can install or have installed into an old brick surround fireplace that’s missing a damper. The opening is 33x31 and there’s a wood mantel about 6 + inches away, all the way around. The fireplace is located on the first floor of a 2 1/2 story duplex. The chimney has been repointed recently and there’s a cap installed. It’s about 35’ high and would need pipe staging or a lift for access. My bil is a plumber and will install the gas supply and shutoff per manufacturer’s specs. So, my questions are… What brands offer a great look, dependablity, easy to operate and are reasonably priced? Do I need a 110v receptacle or pig tail? If so, where? A fan for heat is not necessary. How should it be vented? Can it go out the back of the chimney directly or up a 30’ flue? Ventless if safe seems fine, too. Does anyone have an opinion on locating a wide screen above the mantelpiece? Does the radiant heat effect the electronics? Do you think a tv above the fireplace detracts from the focal point of the room? I appreciate your thoughts! TIA
